To be frank, one of my Friends is a jealous, attention seeking mean cagna btu she's best Friends with one of my close friends. What should I do??

This girl was really mean to my best friend who's been extremely down lately as it's nearing the anniversary of her dad's death, because she hasn't been getting attention. But I don't know what to do about my friend who's really tight this girl don't wanna cause a huge rift but I can't handle her being such a cagna to my friend.
