yeah, I think you're right. It's got to be a rule cause all the partners have the exact same nail polish color. It's probably how they mark who is who's partner, like how the rings mostra their rank in Akatsuki.

It's somehow like some rule, if te pay attention to all of the Akatsuki members, they all have different color nail polish, that resables the group they're into, like for example "Itachi and Kakuza both have black nail polished".

It can also be a symbol like the Akatsuki mark o Like the ring, which the use of it is like the nail polish, I mean, each team has it's own ring and it's own color of nail polish.

And no, they're not gays fot using nail polish, it's just cool haha. (YAOI xD)
