its just a beautiful film! And such great acting! Loved it, it reached my top 3 film! (and for me that is saying something)

I added Truly madly deeply, if you haven't seen it, go see it! (it was a hard choice for me, but snow cake is more recent so...)

This is a great little movie, and it seems like not many people have seen it.

I love him in everything! He's perfect as Sanpe-but has so little screen time. I almost picked Truly Madly Deeply-but that moustache. He did steal every scene in Robin Hood, but...

A hard choice. I also loved him in "Snow Cake" (a wonderful little movie) and he was very funny in "Dogma", but "Love Actually" is an amazing movie and Alan is both, funny and performing greatly.

He's brilliant in everything, it's so hard to pick just one. But Die Hard is such a classic, I love it...and he has such a great character in this one

Snowcake is wonderful, I was mad when it ended because I wanted more. i wanted to know what happened when alex went on to see his son's mother. The characters had become so real, I cared about them so much

his part was the one portion of the book they got right. they needed someone with a distinctive voice, and they got it! they got marvin just right! perfect voice for the part.

Sense and Sensibility. He was so gorgeous in that movie and he looked so sexy in the period clothes. I loved his sweet and gentle character.

I know that sound like a total fan girl but he is an amazing actor and every movie I have seen him in he has done an awesome job at playing his roles.

Those I've seen are all great, but I was a big fan of Marvin when I read the book Hitchhicker's Guide. I went into the theater wanting my favorite from the book to come to life and Alan Rickman made it happen...he did a perfectly gloomy Marvin!

Animaltalker: I know exactly what you mean! I only recently saw this wonderful film and -aside from wishing I'd heard of it sooner!- I wanted the story to continue! I found that I really did care about the characters and what would happen to them next :') AWESOME movie!

I Have not seen all of the movies here, but I loved him in all the movies I have seen which is mentioned here!

Merlin *-* I love so much this movie ... I'm french and I have seen in English, yet I understood everything and I think it's really in this movie taht we see the talent of this actor *-* (and Madeleine Stowe is so ... yeah xD)

That's one of my favorite movies EVER...
Plus, I love Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter just as much as I love Alan... they're my top 3 favorite actors & my favorite film director ;D

Galaxy Quest for me. It's so funny. But then again, I love ALL of Alan's movies. Except for Judas Kiss. Didn't care for that one much.

An Awfully Big Adventure is missing from the list and I'm too lazy to go search for the picstures to add it, so Blow Dry which is along with AABA my favourite Alan movie.

So many excellent films that show his wide range of talents. I'm going with Galaxy Quest mainly because he pulled off comedy like it was second nature to him. He has a very strong presence in all of his movies. Somebody give this man an Oscar already!!!!!!

I think he's great in all of his films but, to me, my favorite acting performances are Rasputin, Closet Land, Snow Cake, Sense And Sensibility, Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves, Truly Madly Deeply, and the Harry Potter films (All of them). P.S.- To joannelps- You are a homophobic idiot. Frankly, I don't know or even care what his sexuality is. He's still hot and a great actor, so piss off!
