ciao guys! In case te didn't read the warning, again, please watch the movie even if you're not an Anime fan--trust me,it's worth it. ANYHOW, I'm back again with another one of this articolo thingies...yep. This time we're going to take a look at Studio Ghibli's "When Marnie was There",anyway I could be wrong but I think this was based on a novel...? o maybe the novel was based on this one...alright let's start finally!

 Anna and Marnie
Anna and Marnie

Story: "A young girl (Anna) is sent to the country for health reasons, where she meets an unlikely friend in the form of Marnie, a young girl with flowing blonde hair. As the friendship unravels it is possible that Marnie has closer ties to the protagonist than we might expect."

So...the story. *takes a deep breath* It's very amazing, beautiful and anything good te could say! Right at the start I was already into the story just because of Anna's line at the beginning:

“In this world, there’s an invisible magic circle, there’s inside, and there’s outside...and I'm an Outsider.”

I just...I could definitely relate to that,if te know me well enough you'd already know why and other than that there is this prospect of the main character,Anna having Asthma...which again,I could relate since I also have the same condition and knew from the moment she suddenly coughed violently that she had it too. Going back to the story, at first I thought this was just going to be a normal close friendship relationship thing well...until that first flashback with Anna in the orphanage with her doll (that looked like Marnie for some reason),then it showed that it was DEFINITELY più than that...and I'm glad too. It seems that there's più to both of their pasts than meets the eye and I found myself drowning in them each time they unravel something about themselves, but it wasn't until the final moments of the movie did I find myself crying like a baby! and not just once too...each time I think that I'm fine now, another event triggers my cry switch. What time do te think I watched this? It was already almost midnight when I finished this and imagine me crying in the middle of the night while everybody else was already sleeping. ^^"

Soundtrack- Like the story, the soundtrack for this amazing movie was absolutely beautiful and honestly,I don't think I could say anymore...It's just that good. The theme song though "Fine on the Outside" was again, really something I could relate too,and I can't get enough of how amazing this song is for me.

 The Marsh House
The Marsh House

Visuals- Of course the style of Anime Studio Ghibli makes is a bit different from modern ones but that doesn't stop the visuals from being charming in their own way. Even the painting that painter (Hisako) did was astounding and not to mention Anna's drawings as well. From the Marsh House to the Forest, the backgrounds and the animazione were splendid.

Characters- And finally we get to the characters! Each of the characters played their own role in the lives of Marnie and Anna, some bad and some good, but definitely meaningful to the story. There's actually a handful of them so I'll just go over some of them that I liked.

Anna- An orphan having Asthma, who got adopted da Yoriko and his husband that has probably died.(at least from what I can get da the pictures in their livingroom) After figuring out that her guardian was getting money from the government da taking care of her,she pretty much distanced herself from her classmates and was always lonely. Because of her asthma getting worse, she was sent to live with Yoriko's relatives for a bit in the countryside for some fresh air and there she finds The Marsh House and was able to meet Marnie.

-I find myself relating to her the most which probably added to the tears I shed on this movie. One, both of us have asthma and at that age I prone to Asthma attacks too.Two we were also both lonely and distant, because of my Asthma attacks I was sometimes sent to the hospital during the school anno and da the time I got back my classmates already had their own friend circles and I felt like an outsider. Three,we both like to draw and live in a rural place. (Although Anna at the end plans on going at the countryside every summer)

Marnie- A child from a rich family, she always talks about the parties her parents starts once they go back from work but in truth she was neglected. Even her maids bully her and one time even dragged her to the "haunted" silo just to scare her as a child. The only Friends that I could tell from her time are Hisako and Kazuhiko, her future husband. Even through that, she always loved their old home. (The Marsh House) It was revealed that she was Anna's deceased grandmother all along, coming back to fulfill her promise of never making Anna feel lonely unlike what she did to her own daughter/Anna's mother Emily when she sent her to boarding school at a young age while mourning for his husband's dead and gaining an illness later on.

-and this is where the waterworks started,just...God...*sniff* I Amore Marnie, she's awesome, and even today, when I rewatched that part where Hisako explains Marnie's life I still found myself crying. I mean c'mon, thinking back to the events of the movie before this twist,it made sense that was purpose all along. Honestly,i thought the twist was that Marnie was going to be the doll Anna had in her flashback but it turned out much better. Well...being an ill grandmother and the only relative left, she wasn't able to be there for Anna as she grew up so *flashbacks to all those times they spent together before the reveal* dangit...*cries a bit on the inside* (Go Grams!)

Hisako- A painter that was a childhood playmate of Marnie, she reveals Marnie's tragic story to Anna at the final moments of the movie. She was a pretty simple character but that really didn't stop my interest in her, especially since she creates some awesome paintings of the Marsh House.

Toichi- An aged fisherman who almost never speaks throughout the entire movie,in fact he only spoke once at the end when Anna mentioned Marnie's name, because of that the village kids make fun of him sometimes but what's admirable is that he doesn't really care what they say and still then, gives Anna a barca ride when she needs it.

The Oiwas- This includes Anna's "aunt and uncle" who she stays with in the countryside and her stepmother. They are real awesome people...nuff said.

Sayaka- A new friend Anna met and is the new inhabitant of the Marsh House. She found Marnie's diary and gift (painting)from Hisako and helped Anna in solving the mystery that is Marnie. She's cool. Another cool thing is that Marnie pretty much brought them together and because of that she was able to do her task of not making Anna feel lonely.

...And that was it. complessivamente, generale it was an absolutely amazing watch and I recommend this to anyone really, even some who aren't Anime fan but can tolerate animation. I really loved it and hearing that this was actually Studio Ghibli's final work before their hiatus,is kind of a bummer considering I'm still new to the studio. (Although I've watched their famous "Howl's Moving Castle" and "Spirited Away" when I was a kid...didn't understand back then though,so maybe I'll rewatch.) Hmm...well,that's all I have to say, thanks for putting up with this and let's see te on the successivo one. Bye. :)

So I just sit in my room
After hours with the moon,
And think of who knows my name.
Would te cry if I died?
Would te remember my face?

Song: link

Pinkie Pie was driving a delivery furgone, van full of cupcakes around Ponyville. She had to stop at a red traffic light.

Pinkie Pie: *Going cross-eyed with her tongue sticking out* What a beautiful giorno delivering cupcakes. *Watches the traffic light*

Instead of changing from red to green, the traffic light turned blue. Then the song stopped, and another one played: link

Pinkie Pie: *Thinking to herself, then smiles* Ooh, it's another one of those blue traffic lights Vinyl Scratch told me about! Now what was it that she detto again?
Vinyl Scratch: *Appears in...
