A mortar exploded in front of the barca and water from the channel sprayed up and into the barca and soaked the troops in front. and all at once it hit me......we were at war. the barca rowers plowed the barca right into the river bank and everyone jolted forward. the drop door slammed down into the sand and all the troops piled out onto the waste land of bodies that was the river shore. Many of the troops in the front were mowed down da machine gun fuoco coming from the buildings. Reznov, Demetri, and I all found a trench and hid there for a minuto to get a grip on the situation. we happened to be in front of a building that had German soldiers inside of it. Reznov, Demetri, and I all stood up out of the trench and fired our ppsh-41 into the building at the Germans. Then we got up to the entrance and went inside (that's what she said)
Reznov was in the middle, Demetri took the right, and I took the left side when we went into the building. We cleared what was and what now was the remains of a Russian hotel called the Tsarky Dvor. Then we preceded to link up with and followed the 3rd shock army to giant gates that were in front of the center of the city where the reichstag was and also where Hitler was hold up.
when we got to the gates Victor got up on a supply gabbia, cassa in front of the whole division and spoke with great rally, "our grip tightens around the black cuore of Stalingrad with every step. All of the division started cheering and they pushed the gates of the city open and rushed in the motivation was short lived for, for a good portion of the troops were killed da machine gun bullets. Then I felt a warm sensation in my gut I looked down and realized i was bleeding....... I had been shot.
