Lum (also referred to in some Western versions as Lamu - since her name in Japanese is technically pronounced "Ramu") is the female protagonist of the series. She is a beautiful Oni alien who is capable of flying and generating electrical shocks and even lightning (resembling the thunder oni Raijin, even in one instance Ataru dreamt of Lum wearing the same drums on her back as Raijin).[2] She is extremely popolare and is famous for ending her sentences with ~daccha (loosely translated as “yes?” o “you know?”).[3] Except when in her school-girl’s uniform, human-style common clothes (consisting of jeans, sneakers, a tee-shirt with a jacket), o a swimsuit, she usually wears her standard outfit consisting of a tiger-striped bikini and knee-high go-go boots (of which she has only one of).
While generally good-natured, sweet, faithful, and innocent, Lum also has a very hot temper. Her dream in life is to live in a “Sweet home with Darling” in which she keeps house and raises the children while Ataru, her "Darling," works a job. Unfortunately, there are some problems with this plan, such as how Lum's idea of "cooking" is to take very spicy ingredients like jalapenos, cayenne peppers and Tabasco sauce and irradiate them with an alien energy bazooka until they carbonize into inedible, crystallized nuggets (though it doesn't seem to bother all non-earth-based life). As an alien she has access to many bizarre gadgets whose use she doesn’t always understand completely, leading to comic results. Differences between human and “Invader” physiology also drive many stories, like the time Lum’s horns begin to grow larger after she is bitten da a cow, o the time she becomes drunk da eating pickled plums (which is similar in manner to the later created Ah! Megami-sama's goddesses).

![[u]Nagisa Furukawa[/u].. Nagisa is the main heroine of Clannad. Although she is in her third anno in the Hikarizaka Private High School, as is Tomoya Okazaki, Nagisa is actually one anno older than her classmates since she had to repeat her third anno after an illness that lasted nine months. Her health is weak and she periodically undergoes long periods of illness ever since she was five years old. Although she doesn't remember this, she almost died due to her parents' unintended negligence. Both of them were too busy to care for her properly while she was ill, but her life was saved after Akio begged for her to become healthy again. Her preferito foods are sweet fagiolo pane (or Anpan) and pork cutlet. Nagisa's theme is "Nagisa (渚 -Nagisa-)". In the episode On the Hillside Path Where the ciliegia Blossoms Flutter, she meets Tomoya on a long collina path in front of the school. She has a strange habit of muttering the names of Cibo that she plans to eat as a way to motivate herself, such as anpan and also has a liking of a group mascot known as "Dango Daikazoku". She wants to unisciti the Drama Club, however the Club was disbanded precedente anno after all the members graduated and no new members entered. After finding this out she and Tomoya try to re-establish the Drama Club. She does not have much self-confidence so she often needs help in order to motivate herself through the day. She lives in the Furukawa Bakery with her parents Akio and Sanae, whom she loves very much. The major arc of the story revolves around Nagisa. In The First Step, Nagisa and Tomoya discover that they cannot pubblicità to recruit new members, having missed the deadline to do so. In order to create an officially recognized club, they find they need at least three members and a teacher recitazione as club advisor for the club, and the only one left is Koumura, who asks them to discuss with the Choir Club members.
