Azula sat in her prison cage. She thought she was beautiful. She knew she was beautiful. She couldn't let that Water Tribe scum mostra her off and take her down. It was her one moment of weakness and she wanted a definite rematch. She just hoped we father had done better with killing the Avatar than she had done taking out the Water Peasant and her traitorous brother.

The guards had made sure to keep her locked in a fuoco proof room where she had three meals a giorno and someone came in to talk to her about certain stuff. She didn't know who the girl was, but she seemed nice and she was re only friend Azula had. And she was willing to talk to her about her problems.

The girl was pretty. She was obviously from the Earth Kingdom with her big brown eyes and Cioccolato colored hair that she kept in almost the same style as herself. She wore green all the time and ever week she would bring new scrolls for Azula to read.

The stories she read were of mystery and horror and romance. The things she had lived with her life. The girl actually reminded her of her forgotten mother who loved her brother. That was why she liked the girl.

Azula always started each session with the girl with a different giorno in her life. She started with her first memory when she was very young and now she was on to the story about how she had made Zuko and Mai fall into the fontana together just to tease them.

How she missed Mai and Ty Lee. Those traitors for Friends she couldn't believe she once had. Although, Azula could blame them for betraying her. Mai had done it for Amore of her stupid brother and Ty Lee had done it for her bonded and unbreakable friendship with Mai. How Azula wished she had that kind of friendship with someone.

Ty Lee was too hyper to be Friends with. She would always bounce around and be whoever she wanted to be. That's why Azula begged, o forced, her friend to teach her some acrobatics.

Mai was too depressed and Azula couldn't believe she was even Friends with Ty Lee. Mai was good at throwing daggers and Azula had forced her also to teach her some of the basics. And Azula shouldn't have hesitated when she pulled out that dagger during the giorno of Black Sun, she should have driven it right into the Water Warriors heart.

Everyone had something that she didn't. Amore for another person. She hadn't really loved her father at all, he hardly even noticed she was around. She never though her mother loved her. But she had to. She was Azula's mother. Almost every mother - even the mothers of beautiful, neglected people - loved their children.

Azula sat in her cell alone that giorno as she pondered. She pondered everything all the time. She had a lot to think about. So she just sat, waiting for the giorno when she would be released from the prison hold she now called home. Waiting to be released and then to be loved. But wasn't that all she ever did? All she really did all her life was wait patiently for things to go her way. She waited for the giorno to not be called crazy.

((Got this idea because I had my hair styled like Azula's and I needed some inspiration for something besides all my other stories and I just wrote down all my thoughts. Tell me what te think in your comment!))

So I was Leggere a post on tumblr that got me thinking. Basic gist is that someone detto Azula couldn’t do anything on her own. My initial thought was to dispute that but then I kind of thought about it and realized this person was kind of right. But not just about Azula. After really thinking about it I realized that none of the characters really can! Hear me out guys; I’m not saying that the Avatar characters are useless on their own, but they are so much stronger when they have others to help them out. In fact I’d like to argue that this is an intended theme in Avatar. Like these characters...

One of the things I noticed about Avatar is the significance of the spirit disguises. Each disguise speaks volumes about the character using it and reflects their personality sort of like their bending styles.

I’ll start with the Painted Lady and Katara;

The real Painted Lady was a lot of things for the people of Jang Hui. She was a protector. A healer. A beacon of hope. She was a water spirit with assumably a gentle heart.

This is not unlike Katara herself. One of Katara’s key character traits was her hopefulness and the hope she instilled in other people. And in assuming the persona...
