Why was the spell to bring Buffy back different then the one Dawn did to bring back Joyce?

I have been watching the Buffy seasons over again with my cousin and I realized that in Season 5 in the episode Forever when Dawn does the spell to bring Joyce back its completely different from the one Willow does to bring Buffy back. Why is that? Its the same resurrection spell? Does it have to do with how they died? I was just wondering. A bit curious. Thanks :)

also another reason was because buffy died of Supernatural causes, whilst joyce died of natural ones

Because of this it cannot be the same spell.

It was a different spell. I think it was the guy that gave the spell to Dawn. Remember, he was a demon who worshiped Glory - a bad guy. Willow found the spell through her research and knowledge of witchiness.

The way I understood it, the spell would have made Joyce più of a zombie than an actual person.

The spell was different because the spell willow used had the urn and that caused it to only bring back people from demonic deaths. Dawns spell was just to get her mom back and Joyce died because of a brain tumor. That is not a demonic cause.
