Personally, I say season two. In season one, his character was still being developed, and in season two he started to have depth.
In season one, he really struggled with the shades of gray, but season two helped to develop his character even more. He still wasn't a bad guy, but he wasn't good either. And a little romance and backstabbing never hurts anyone. Well, unless you're at the receiving end of the stabbing of course.
In season 5 though, I think his character was too obsessed with Angel and the Senior Partners.
So... season two fo meh!

Season 2 because it was fun to watch him,Darla & Drucilla teaming up together against Angel! Those three had some great chemistry together. I wish they could have all three stayed on the show longer.
