In episode 4, series 9, i think, called Manhunt, eric was shot in the car park,how the hell is he still alive?

Eric is an incredible CSI - Scena del crimine and is very strong. When he was shot on the leg he was likely to survive but when we was shot in his neck he lay there looking very dead. I guess that the writers cant get rid of him but want some action
