Intersec- tional feminist
ThePrincesTale picked Intersectional feminist:
Radical feminism doesn't assert that women are superior to men. Maybe some people who self-label as radical feminists believe that, but it's not a defining characteristic of radical feminism itelf.

Radical feminism claims that there is a male-based authority and power structure and that it is responsible for oppression and inequality. It contends that as long as the system and its values are in place, society will not be able to be reformed in any significant way, and must be changed through radical social/cultural means. This is in contrast to Liberal feminism, which uses the existing legal and political system to achieve change.

That does still sound like a good form of feminism, maybe you could add this variant in the poll.

"Radical feminism claims that there is a male-based authority and power structure and that it is responsible for oppression and inequality." - This is a problematic definition as it leaves the history of feminism and radical feminism behind. Your normal, standard, everyday feminism (I hate saying that, but this is a poll about definitions, so...) challenges patriarchal power structures too. It is through contemporary (patriarchal) readings of feminism that 'standard' feminism has come to be understood as 'radical'. Radical feminism used to be understood through factions of feminism that sought to drastically limit or eliminate engagements with men and patriarchal institutions, and perhaps protesting patriarchal power more directly and bluntly than the 'average' feminist. But now, even small challenges to masculine power are understood as 'radical', watering down such challenges and positioning stronger challenges as 'women thinking they are superior to men', which maintains/supports patriarchal power.

I don't like categorising forms of feminism. Feminists shift in their feminism constantly. Categories of feminism don't do much for us.

I can always count on ThePrincesTale to accurately define terms. :)

FWIW, I identify as a liberal feminist. Or, at least I did ten years ago. I'll need a refresher on the terms.

I believe what you mean by radical feminist is really female chauvinism.

Intersec- tional feminist
ThePrincesTale picked Intersectional feminist:
"Female chauvinism" having seen a lot more radfem takes since writing my first comment, I agree with this. It think radical feminism sees men as the fundamental factor in the oppression of women (as opposed to custom, political systems, etc). Which I disagree with quite strongly.

I also disagree with "glass ceiling" / neoliberal feminism which seeks to get wealthier (usually white) women to the top of exploitative economic and political hierarchies. In effect, it just allows women to exploit other women - working class and minority women are left at the bottom. At worst, link as MORE👏FEMALE-ORDERED👏DRONE👏STRIKES👏

Nowadays I identify as an intersectional feminist. Inequalities based on gender, race and class are interconnected and mutually reinforcing. We need to address them all in an integrated way.

Oooh, I think you're right. You should add "intersectional feminist" up there. I'd change my answer.
