I can't stand what he does for my country! I can't blame him for being such an idiotic ass in the media. I blame the people who voted for him...for what?!? Can someone who voted for him please enlighten me as to why you voted for him?!? Our country is a mess and I know I can't judge because even though it's out there in the media we will never know the truth unless we are in his position. Things changed so much especially in New York after 9/11 when Giuliani was Mayor, he would be a better President than Bush...heck anyone probably would!
1. There is UNPROVEN speculation that he is on drugs. Which I might just be convinced by.
2. Again, UNPROVEN evidence that he is illiterate
3. He can't talk properly
4. He thinks God talks to him (see number 1)
5. He started the Iraq war
6. He is kind of goofy and stupid and immature which would be funny if he wasn't supposed to be THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD. And he just stands there smiling like a child watching the teletubbies while he talks about doing "whatever it takes to defend America". i.e. attack any country that stands in its way towards world domination.
TweenaCat, I don't think he's on drugs right now, though he did do cocaine when he was younger, and I think he has brain damage from that, which would explain everything else.
I am not too crazy about a few decisions he's made but he's sticking to his guns, so-to-speak, on keeping us a free people and he's done some good with out economy!
Hate him all you want, but nobody said being the president was an easy job. I wouldn't want his job.
This is true, president is not an easy job, and therefore should not be taken on by one as little qualified as Bush. I agree that the singular good quality about Bush is that he always stands by what he's said, and his decisions, no matter how bad of mistakes they may have been. That is the singular admirable quality about him, and he's using it to stand by bad choices. Even the (some of) the troops in Iraq (the ones I've spoken to) feel disillusioned by him, and these were previously people who supported him and that's why they signed up for the army because they thought they were fighting for OUR freedom, when really our freedom has little to do with who they're fighting, namely antagonized Iraqi insurgents who want them out of their country. Not terrorist cells, although the insurgents can be considered terrorists as they are using guerrilla warfare, so yes we are fighting terrorists in that sense, but terrorists we ourselves created.
The Liberal Media Bias certainly had many people fooled. Bush has done a better job than Jimmy Carter. To me, the best president was Ronald Reagan.
And don't fault George Bush, I know of a few others who would've done even worse than Bush. Sure I frown on some things Bush has decided on, but not all. Bush was no more qualified for the job than Bill Clinton. Hate him all you want but Bush has kept us a free people, whether you see it or not.
Terrorists have been around for more decades than any of us have known. They existed LONG before 9/11, long before the selfish generation we belong to, long before the Gulf War, long before Vietnam, long before WWI AND WWII! Take a good look at history.
Bush is not to blame. Most of Congress is. Many selfish people in America are to blame for more reasons than I can list; because they just don't like war. Wake up, war may be wrong, but it's sometimes necessary if you want to keep being a free people. WAR gave us freedom. It's not free.
This is not about oil, this is not about conspiracies, it's about our life & our freedom. 'Nuff said.
I get most of my news from international sources, not US sources, at least before I moved to the states. I found CNN here is far different than it is overseas. No matter what light I see him in, even Fox News, I don't like him. He has the worst foreign policy I've seen in years. Bush has not kept us a free people. He has made and kept us a terrified people.
I know terrorism is far from a new idea. I never said that Bush INVENTED terrorism, I'm saying he is ENCOURAGING it, not fighting it, by inciting more anger with the American people internationally. I have SEEN and HEARD international opinion first hand on George Bush, and when I worked for the embassy assisted in Condoleeza Rice's visit to Cairo two years ago.
And you haven't yet explained how Iraq has to do with terrorism, or addressed the Al Quaeda cells in Saudi Arabia. How come we're not going after those?
In a way, I agree that Bush isn't to blame. He's a puppet, and he's not smart enough.
The war in Iraq has little to do with our freedom. 2,973 Americans died on September 11th and over 3,000 have died in Iraq, and that's not even including Iraqi civilians caught in the crossfire.
I've spoken to soldiers who have BEEN to Iraq, who have FOUGHT in the army, and even they quietly oppose the war. Even they don't feel like they're fighting for freedom.
I personally never said it was about oil. I admitted I don't know what it is about. I just know it's not about fighting for our freedom. Because what's going on over there is just inciting more anger in the Iraqi people, and more antipathy in the Middle East in general, who is already unhappy with us.
Bush's foreign policy is crap, and believe me I know about foreign policy. I encourage you to travel to a middle eastern country. Speak with some knowlegeble Arabs. I spoke with an Egyptian cab driver who knew more about American presidents than some people I know.
Clinton had his faults, but he did facilitate peace talks between Arafat and Rabin/Sharon. Instead of causing more antipathy in the Middle East (and the global community as a whole), he is actually rather well-liked by the Middle Eastern community. They see him as better than Bush, as do I. In my opinion, nearly anyone is better than Bush.
"Bush has kept us a free people," - Boy have you been hoodwinked. Did ya miss the part where they passed the Patriot Act? how about the illegal wiretaps and the arrests of American Citizens with no charges, no phone calls... nothing.
Yeah. America is free alright. So free that you cannot say anything against the current administration without fear of government harassment... so much for the 1st amendment.
Bush has taken away more freedoms than the last 10 presidents combined.
I'm afraid not so much. I respect the difficulty of his job, and I would guess that he is a very nice person, but I just don't believe he is doing a very good job as President.
I have to say no. I truly believe the man to be a total idiot. Not being american of course, my image of George Bush comes from the British viewpoint where respect for the man is non existent.
I don't think he is a good President... he seems like an ok guy, but not competent... I respect the difficulty of the job, but that doesn't mean its ok to do a terrible job and make bad decisions, and being so stubborn that you can't admit your mistakes.
I never voted for him. Ever. Not that I could in the first elections. But plenty of people were disenchanted by Kerry (for good reason), and in the 2000 elections no one could have predicted he would have done this badly. I'll be honest, I wasn't too into politics back then, but it's been my understanding that at the time, he was the ideal republican candidate over Al Gore, who was as weak a candidate as John Kerry was in 2004.
Still, for the record, my state (WA) came out blue in both elections.
in reponse to majordork - if u belive us to be free ur completely deluded!! We are controil by economie and the goverment..tss your comment could not be any more naive!
MajorDork - i have to laugh every time someone refers to the "liberal" media bias. do you realize who owns the American media?? do some research and then tell me the media bias is liberal. frick.
i'm not usually one for buying into to conspiracy theories, but i honestly don't believe that Bush actually won the first election. i don't have time to put a lot of research into that at the moment, but i might come back and add to this after my exams are over.
one of my favourite songs this summer was Pink's "Dear Mr. President". i would never have come across it if it hadn't been played on the L Word, but i'm glad i did. i definitely recommend listening to it, even just for the lyrics.
He's not my President, and I don't know all that much about what he's done or not done. He's just portrayed as an idiot in the UK. Whenever he's in the news, it's normally about the latest stupid thing he's done, although put in a more polite and diplomatic way.
i can't name one good thing he's done, i'll be glad to see the back of him, even if hilary clinton becomes persident.
in fact, i think he was a comedian in another planet and it's all part of a reality t.v. show being broadcast live in mars. i said that when i read a bushisms poster that included "i know how hard it is to put food on your family"
i think that george bush has destroyed the republican's good reputation, i am british so neither republican or democrat but when i hear of the democrat party i think of war, because the democrats have been forced to agree with some of bush's worst decisions.
i'm not an american citizen or live in america and i probably don't know that much to say "no", but i get a real;y bad vibe from that guy. I'm sure he's a great guy (bono seems to think so) but he's a s*@t president.
How I loathe thee, him and the vice president. Both are arrogant, incompatant, bigoted, greedy men who have far to much power. Half the world thinks he's the devil, and most American's would agree.
I also love the song 'Dear Mr. President', it's a very good song.
What Jonapello23 said. I like to be at a verbally clean environment, no matter where it is.
I like him. Most people who don't, it's just because he's a Christian, is against abortion, things like that. This is Christian-based country. So what if he 'thinks' God has talked to him? That's happened to many people, if you don't believe that, it's still no reason to hate on someone.
I do agree that this is no free country. Two years ago they were discussing immigration and I cried my butt off when they just left it as is because I love this country and I want to keep on living here, but I also want to travel the world and go to my grandparents' 50th anniversary next year. But the president doesn't make every choice. A good comparison would be school. The staff has meetings and most choices are not what the principal wants, but what the strict teachers want.
actually, most people dislike Bush because he's responsible for a completely unjustifiable war and for denying the American people many of the rights and freedoms they spent the last few hundred years fighting for.
It's truly frightening that someone like him has so much power. He has destroyed the very principles that our country is built upon. Those are NOT Christian principles, as some would like us to believe. The United States is not a Christian country. In fact, most of our founding fathers were deists, which was as close as you could get to atheists in those days. He has taken away the principles of freedom in the very Constitution. I can only hope that McCain is not elected, since he seems to share the same values.
The man has not been able to string together an articulate sentence in his entire political career, he's a moron and I don't know why the American population has voted him into office twice, if Gore had gotten in America, and possibly the world would be a different, and better place.
He's simply not a good president. Look at the war in Iraq, for one example. He keeps us in there, claiming it's for the good of the people there, and won't take out our troops until they stop fighting back. Well, they're going to keep fighting back until we get the hell out of there.
And I don't think we have any right to be there in the first place. Bush is, quite unfortunately, the president of the U.S.A.. Even if his intentions were good, Iraq is just a bit out of his jurisdiction, don't you think?
He's making our country down right unlikeable. To its citizens and to other countries. The U.S.A. used to be a model nation, a free nation. Now we look like moron four-year-olds to the rest of the world and we can just barely call ourselves free, if we can at all.
Just look at our economy. It's a mess! We're 3 trillion dollars in debt, and Bush has the nerve to say on National TV that the United States doesn't have any problems. Yea...you keep thinking that 'Dubya.
Plus he's as dumb as a rock. He barely has a grasp on the English language, his native tongue! What a moron. Seriously, America could do so much better than this. I was soo disappointed in '04 when he was re-elected.
i think the true quality of a leader is one who admits when he is wrong and does everything in his power to correct his mistakes. so yes, he may stick by his guns which many admire, but it is time for him to end the war. he had no real legitimate reasons to wage it in the first place, and endless lives are being lost.a good president would spare his people further heart ache
Look where we are now, with the economy, the war, etc. Many countries now hate the US, and have good reason to. Bush needs to be removed, and not by John McCain, who is just four more years of Bush.
listen people i do not like bush but that war was a good thing at first and we all loved him for it but he took it down the wrong path and now we are in grave danger.I belive that our leaders have been known to rise to the task and get us on track i can only hope barack obama can follow through what rosevelt did during his time in office,we can only hope
Wow, I must be the only one who actually likes (liked) him. I don't think this whole crisis is his fault, it's ours for wasting our own money. And Obama isn't gonna really help it
Thank you so much, George W. Bush, for making people the world over hate all Americans, and for disregarding the U.S. Constitution, the Geneva Convention, the environment and the planet, and authorizing the killing of countless thousands of people in an illegal, unjustifiable war. Oh how I hate thee!
Although, let's be honest, he did provide a great many truly hilarious jokes (oh Jon Stewart!). ;D But seriously, W. was one of the absolute worst presidents in US history, and one of the biggest threats facing the world today...well, until January 20th, 2009, that is.
just a fyi ,i'm not american , i just like him because i think he's funny , not saying he hasn't screwed up cause no doubt he has . but you gotta laugh at the stuff they guy comes out with .
Its not all his fault the economy sucks right now.We share some of the blame for wasting some of our money along with big corporations and most politicans democrat AND republican.
Even if I agreed with him wholeheartedly, I would still hate him just for crimes against the English language. Sometimes I think I could vote for Darth Vader if he just presented a logical argument. But now, to play the Devil's Advocate:
I honestly do not believe Bush is evil. He truly believes, wrong as that belief may be, that he is doing the right thing. Nor is he an idiot. He may not be a genius, but he did manage to graduate college. So how does he let these things happen? He was raised, educated, and told how to think by hyperconservative fanatics. Put shortly, he's brainwashed. Dick Cheney on the other hand...
Actually, he'll be remembered for how he ruined the economy. And his response to 9/11 was mostly to take away civil rights. Honestly, I think it could have been prevented if he was more competent.
i mean he did the best he could i truly believe that so yeah i do like him all presidents have some decisions people don't like you can't please everyone this is my opinon
Did a better job that Obama is doing.... :P (hahaha I'll be dead within 10 min for saying that) But if you are true debaters that you will respect my opinion though you don't agree ;)
Well, perhaps as a person he would be tolerable for me. But as president, this man has made numerous foolish mistakes, too many for him to earn any respect from me, personally.
I'm too young to know much about him, but I've seen a video of him talking in class, and he sounded pretty stupid!!
But I don't know enough about him to make a definite decision.
really only the electoral votes count from the representitives of the states that go to the electoral college. And also as we know the house and the senate play a big roll in determining this because thpopulation determines the number of reps the state gets so the party with the most reps usually wins the election. i'm suprised i even remember this and i'm only a freshman in hs
He wasn't exactly the brightest guy in the world.
I mean, he's probably a perfectly nice person and had good intentions...
But...
He wasn't so bright. Yeah, he may have gone to Yale. But Book Smart is only ONE kind of smart, and you need more than that to be a good president...
Obama is doing so much than he ever did! Sure, says Bush, lets put our country into an unnecesary war! Everybody blames Obama for the economy, but it's Bush's fault. Thank goodness the president can only be elected for two terms. Who knows how America would be now if that wasn't the case?
I don't like his beliefs on war or gay marriage and issues like that.
However, I do think that he is an intelligent man and I respect his political differences. The media makes him out to be such an airhead...but he really is not. He just has different view points.
Hate him. Hated, by extension, America, when I was younger. He made the world hate America, and I'm speaking from experience as an Australian. Especially when he invaded Iraq, and our stupid nitwit of a prime minister gave him unconditional support and followed him there, never minding half a million protesting in Sydney, answer about 90% here opposing the war. Yet George Bush and America was choosen over the Australian people...
There's also Guantanamo Bay, his stupid declaration of the "Axis of Evil", all his other far right-wing policies.
Of course, he's the reason why America is still free! He prevented the world being taken over by terrorists, if it wasn't for.him, we'd all.by Muslim by now
As far as I'm concerned, he wasn't my president, but I think he was a major idiot. He used 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' as an excuse to create a war in a country that really needed to be left alone to sort its own shit out. He was a interfering twat - couldn't help messing with other countries in order to have his soldiers fighting. Honestly, it was none of his business what was happening in those countries and he wasted so much time and so many resources to fight a war that didn't need to be fought. The poor Americaqn soldiers that keep having to go and fight a battle that most of them probably didn't want to even fight.
(No offense, Bush supporters).
I asked this question over at the link to gauge how many of his own party still support him and last I checked, "No" was beating out "yes."
The man is evil, idiotic, uncharismatic and a war waging ball of hatred.
That sums him up for me
How many people realize that the people behind Bush also had their hand in the last Swedish election? It's documented, and scares the crap out of me.
2. Again, UNPROVEN evidence that he is illiterate
