Debra parker her car in front of Beth’s motel room. She stared out of the windshield, feeling Mike’s eyes on her.
“You let her sleep here? Why not in your hotel room? te gave her the keys” he said.
“I wasn’t going to send her back there, with te around” Deb snapped.
Infuriated with Beth’s lies and Deb’s incompetence of seeing her sister for who she really was, Mike unfastened his sede, sedile cintura and got out of the car.
He walked around the vehicle and opened Deb’s door, but it wasn’t out of courtesy. He just wanted Deb to hurry up, so he could prove to her that he was trustworthy....

Joe’s followers were sitting on the floor. Emma and Molly had told them what happened to Joe.
“I can’t believe he’s gone” Lea whispered unbelieving. She looked up. “What are we going to do now”
“For now it’s really important that we keep a low profile” Emma said. “Now with Joe…dead…the FBI will think us weak, vulnerable. Let’s mostra them their wrong”
Alex stood and crossed his arms.
“We need someone to take control over things” Emma continued. “I know you’re thinking you’re all worthy of being the successivo Joe Carroll, but let’s not forget I was closest to...

“Hey, open the door!” Mike shouted, bashing the elevator doors. Debra clung onto his neck tightly. She kept her eyes on Mike’s chest, trying to remain calm. She closed them and buried her head in Mike’s neck. Suddenly she started to cry.
“Deb?”
“I’m sorry, daddy” Deb sobbed. “I didn’t mean to. I was just so hungry”
“Deb, what are te talking about?” Mike asked confused.
“Please, don’t put me back, mommy” Deb continued, like a scared little girl. “I’ll be a good girl, I promise”
“Deb, your parents aren’t here. It’s me, Mike” Mike detto sharp. He felt...

Simon had no sense of time, but if he could trust his stomach it was long past lunch time. It had been painfully rattling for the last couple of hours, but he knew that if he’d complain Agnes would return and not to feed him.
He had been tossing and turning all night, unable to find a comfortable position to sleep. He probably wasn’t the only one, he imagined. Now that Debra was gone someone had to fulfill Dale’s sexual needs.
Poor Beth, Simon thought, she must feel so abandoned and betrayed.
Though he didn’t hear the door open, he did see how a dim light spread itself throughout the basement....

The council was sitting around the table, Dale at the head of it.
“Come in” he barked. The door opened and Mr. and Mrs. Parker entered the room. They looked down, ashamed. “Do te know why you’re here?” he demanded angry.
“Yes, sir” Mr. Parker nodded; Mrs. Parker was too choked up to speak.
“I am astounded that something like this could happen” Dale growled.
“You are absolutely right” Mr. Parked agreed, nodding heavy. “Debra should’ve never ran away. Her actions are unforgivable”
Dale quickly walked up to the pair and punched Mr. Parker in the face. “Don’t you...

Molly was pacing up and down her house. It had been all over the news. The FBI had let Joe Carrol slip through their fingers once again. She was waiting for Joe’s phone call to give her permission to go kill Ryan.
Ryan had arrived a couple of hours ago. He’d had that cagna Claire with him. Had it been up to Molly, they both be lying on the floor with a coltello in their stomachs. But she had to wait for orders.
She heard the backdoor squeak and turned around. Her eyes on the kitchen-the first place the backdoor led to-she snuck to the cupboard and opened the first drawer. In the drawer...

In the months that followed Debra spent most of her time in the library. She loved to read, as long as it wasn’t anything religious.
During the nights she slept in the park, underneath a willow. That was until the park ranger busted her and chased her away. From that moment on she slept in an alley, successivo to a Cibo container. Whenever she got hungry she would dig in the grave and pesce something out. Most of it had already passed the scadenza date, but Debra didn’t care. Cibo was Cibo and she was starving.
One night, she was only in her seventh month, she started having cramps in her stomach....

A week had passed when Debra had ran out of bread. She was hungry and dirty. She had considered going back to her parents, but that would also mean going back to Dale and that was just not an option. They would probably put her back into that cage.
She still got sick in the mornings. People walked past her, curling their noses. But once the morning had passed she felt her stomach protest against the lack of food.
As she stopped at a supermercato she considered what she was about to do. One of the ten commandments crossed her mind. Thou shall not steal. But she wasn’t going to steal anything....

It was one week before Debra’s fourteenth birthday and her parents had been telling her she’d get a very special present.
She was getting ready for dinner, when she felt a pair of eyes lurking at her. She looked up, her brush still in her hand. “Hello, sir” she sighed shy.
Dale frowned. “Please, Deb, call me Dale” he pleaded softly. Deb looked down and Dale walked into the room. “You don’t have to be afraid of me, Deb. Your parents trust me. Why can’t te do the same?”
Debra kept quiet and continued brushing her hair. Dale smiled and caressed a hair behind her ear. He...

“Damn it, Deb, pick up” Mike detto agitated.
Debra’s phone was lying on the washing table, buzzing, but the streaming water in the doccia drowned the sound. Debra wasn’t planning on getting ready any time soon. She swore she could still feel the earth on her skin.
“She’s not picking up” Mike detto nervous. “I’m going to go there”
“To do what?” Ryan protested. “Emma and Joe are shot. They need medical attention. They know they won’t get that from Parker”
Debra stepped out of the doccia and wrapped a towel around her hair. A secondo one she wrapped around her body....

Mike tried to keep his attention on his computer as much as possible, but every now and then he glanced at the door of Nick Donovan’s office.
“Mike” someone hissed. Mike tore his head away from the door, to see Deirdre leaning towards him. da the look on her face, he could tell this wasn’t the first time she had called him.
“What is it?” he asked, with only half of his attention. Deirdre shifted on her seat, and looked around as if to make sure no one was eavesdropping, before leaning even closer towards Mike.
“I was wondering, if te could tell me what really happened?” she said....

When it was nearly noon, Richard turned on the Televisione to watch the news. A lot of horrible things had happened. People kidnapped and murdered. Children being shot, for playing with toys.
“Mike! te need to come see this” Richard called, when something on the news draw his attention. Mike walked to him, and followed his gaze to the screen.
“…when a dark-haired woman, in her late thirties, took the doll of a little girl. Witnesses claim they saw the woman treat and talk to the doll, like it was a real baby. The police is looking for her, because they believe she needs mental help”...

In the months that passed Deb stayed in her room most of the time. The only times she would get up, was to go to the bathroom. She only ate, and showered, because Jean wouldn’t leave her alone otherwise. But Jean couldn’t force her to do anything else.
The nights were even worse. Mike always waited until very late, before he went upstairs, in the hope that Deb would already be asleep, but she never was. He would get into bed, sposta closer to Deb, and when noticed she was still awake, he would baciare her neck.
“Don’t” she would groan then. Nothing more. Just that averse word.
This night,...

Three days later.
Mike, Ryan and Claire were sitting around Deb’s hospital bed. When Mike and Max had found the place where Deb had been held captive, an ambulanza had already taken her. What was left was a huge amount of blood, and-this almost made Max vomit- an umbilical cord.
“The doctor detto the chances to a new pregnancy are very slim” Mike detto soberly. “And even if she would get pregnant again, it would be too risky to go through with it” He ran a hand through his messy hair. He had barely slept in the last few days. “I don’t know how I have to tell her that we Lost our baby”...

Weeks went by. Deb tried her hardest on the Academy. She had caught up with the rest of the class, thanks to the help of some fellow classmates. Juliette hadn’t spoken to her since that first day. In fact, Juliette tried to avoid Deb as much as possible.
During breaks, Deb sought out the company of Deirdre and Scott, who were both very excited that she got into the Academy after all. They even gave her some scoop about what was to come in her secondo year.
Because everything seemed to be working out for a change, Deb was reluctant to open the letter she had received this morning. There was...

At the beginning of the week that followed, Deb entered the class room. She sensed everyone gazing at her, and walked to an empty seat, somewhere in the middle room.
“Everyone, I want to introduce te to Debra Parker” Mrs. Prange said. “Ms. Parker will be joining us”
No one detto a thing, which was fine with Deb. She wasn’t here to make friends. She was here on a mission.
“Alright, Ms. Parker, you’re a week behind. I’ll trust te will catch up with us in your spare time. Today we’re discussing segnala writing”
Everyone opened up their notepad and held their pens ready.
“Does...

Deb drove through the gate that separated Serenity collina from the outside world. She parked and got out. She walked up the building, where some people were gathered.
One of them looked up, and walked up to her. He smiled at her.
“Hello, Debra” he greeted, and he spread his arms. “Look at you. You’re all grown up”
“Hello, Dale” Deb replied, detached.
Dale stepped forward, with the intention to hug her, but Deb backed away. Dale got the hint, and stepped back.
“I came to see my family” Deb said.
“It’s been, um, fifteen years” Dale commented, a bit surprised. “Why now?”...

That evening Susan had to go back to prison, and Deb returned home. She took out her key and put it in the lock. To her surprise, the door was open. She pushed it open, carefully, and snuck inside. Her fingers touched for the light switch, and once she’d found it and turned on the light, a bag was pulled over her head, shutting out the light again.
She felt someone grab her from behind, and another one took her feet, o at least tried to. The moment she felt fingers touch her leg, she kicked as hard as possible. She heard a male voice letting out a cry, and then a muffled ‘Bitch’. Deb...

There was only a handful of people at the funeral. Deb’s vision was blurred from the tears, and she gasped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and saw Susan, who, apparently, had been dato furlough to go to her brother’s funeral.
She embraced Susan, and whispered: “I’m so sorry”, in her ears. She could feel Susan’s shoulders heave and swallowed back her own tears. She felt she had to be strong, for Susan.
Susan pulled back, and Deb cupped her face. “I promise you” she detto softly, while drying Susan’s tears with her thumbs, “they won’t get away with...

Ryan ran through the hospital hallway, and stopped at the sixth room. The door was open, and Max was sitting on the bed, both her wrists in bandages.
“What part of stay put did te not understand?” Ryan reproached her, unable to hide the relief in his voice. He walked to the bed, and Max threw her arms around him.
“At least we have Alex in custody now” Max said, più than a little proud. “You should tell Mike, so he can tell Deb. She will be relieved to hear we have her attacker”
“Or I could call Deb, and tell her” Ryan suggested, and he pulled out his phone. He dialed Deb’s...
