In light of Valentine’s Day, I decided to write an articolo on the Disney Princess couple’s that I believe have the best and most realistic relationship. Oh, and spoiler alert: I only really like 4 of them.
Couples I DON’T like…
10. Mulan & Shang
I Amore Mulan – she’s intelligent, Ribelle - The Brave and selfless. And Shang’s no novice either; in fact, his bravery, leadership and courage are practically matchless. But their relationship, it was too sudden; too forced. They lacked chemistry. Make no mistake, I Amore Mulan and Shang, they’re great – just not together.
9. Cenerentola & Prince Charming
Prince Charming!? HA! I found the candlestick from Beauty & The Beast to be più of a lady pleaser. Charming basically sat on his butt while some servant went searching for his bride-to-be. Wait; hold up, they’re getting married? But all they did was dance for an ora o so? Did they even talk? Anyways, I have a lot of problems with this couple. But I’ll just stop there, before I hurt any feelings.
8. Snow White & The Prince
I Amore how innocent and genuine Snow White is. I Amore that she is hardworking. And I absolutely Amore her kindness. However, I DON’T Amore that she’s getting married at 13. And I especially don’t like that it’s too someone she barely even knows. I mean, come on – are these two even a couple? Like, 2 minuti of screen time together? Really?
7. Tiana & Prince Naveen
Again, Tiana is great. My problem is with Naveen, who personally, I think is way to self-absorbed to ever handle a serious relationship in the first place. They really have nothing in common, and he displays what I’ll call a “general cocky disregard” for Tiana throughout the entire movie. Yes, he’s good-looking; and charming, perhaps. But honestly, I know Tiana could do better. She deserves better.
Couples I SOMTIMES like…
(It depends on my mood, I guess. I’m on the fence with these two couples.)
6. Aurora & Prince Phillip
They meet, and she’s scared. I mean, what? Hello? He’s freaking gorgeous! And he slayed a dragon! Anyways, I don’t think these two had a whole lot of communication to base a relationship on, but somehow at the end, it didn’t seem to matter. It still didn’t really feel like “love” to me, but they do make a beautiful couple.
5. Belle & Beast
This is another Tiana-Naveen situation, but before te scroll down and write an ugly comment, hear me out. Her father accidently trespasses on private property, and naturally, the solution is to lock him in the dungeon for an eternity? Furthermore, after graciously taking his place, she is mourning the loss of the life she once knew – and what does that jerk do? He persists she unisciti him for dinner. Oh, and if she doesn’t eat with him, she doesn’t eat period. It’s his house, his rules after all; and later when she breaks one of them, he throws a tantrum and scares her half to hell. He is an abusive, controlling and ill-tempered monster. Literally. And yes, he does have a change of heart. But he didn’t do nearly enough to make up for his cruelty. I do begin to like the beast once he frees Belle, but still. I just can’t help feeling he’s bound to relapse on his old behaviours now that he doesn’t need Belle to Amore him. After all, he’s already human. Mission accomplished (not that he was using her o anything…). All-in-all, I Amore AND hate this couple – just as I Amore Belle, and (sometimes) hate the Beast.
Couples I ALWAYS like…
3/4. Ariel & Prince Eric
Cons? Let’s see… when Ariel saves Eric, she exclaims “Daddy, I Amore him!” – the only thing is, they never even talked (he was actually unconscious for almost the entire time). Then, she basically risks her soul for a chance to win his love. This, too me, doesn’t add up. It would have been nice if they had some conversations to actually build their relationship on, but at the same time, I Amore the fact that it was the little gestures and expressions that brought them together. Ultimately, the fact that Eric loved her – mermaid o human – and Ariel was willing to go through so much for him, solidifies this couple as one of the Disney’s greatest. It was a gamble, but thankfully, it paid off.
3/4. Aladdin & Princess gelsomino
Aladdin & gelsomino are tied with Ariel & Eric. Like Eric, gelsomino loves Aladdin – strada, via ratto o prince – and Aladdin, like Ariel, goes through so much to be with Jasmine. My issue with Aladdin is that he lied to Jasmine, multiple times. However, because he returned to redeem himself (and saved the kingdom in the process), I think we can forgive his mistakes. Aladdin and gelsomino had plenty of communication and chemistry to build a relationship on. Their Amore was realistic and believable. Just as Eric & Ariel’s was. Again, these couples are tied – because I just couldn’t make a decision.
2. Rapunzel & Flynn
I only recently saw Tangled, but I absolutely fell in Amore with Rapunzel and Flynn. I loved watching their relationship progress and witnessing all the little, individually brilliant moments they shared as they slowly opened up, and we realized that they needed each other. They’re Amore happened naturally, with plenty of comic relief inserted along the way. They’re puzzle pieces; different, but a perfect fit. Yes, they did tie the knot a little too soon for my liking, but ultimately, they’re perfect for each other anyways. They’re the flawless combination of fun and passion. However, despite being (possibly) my favourite Disney couple, the number 1 spot had to go to…
1. Pocahontas & John Smith
These two are absolutely beautiful together. I fell in Amore with them while they fell in Amore with each other. Their relationship is so passionate, and the intensity of their forbidden Amore is undeniable. They share their worlds, their experiences, and their beliefs. Each were changed for the better, and the entire relationship happens so organically that it is completely believable. The only con: They didn’t stay together. This unfortunate reality is the only Disney Princess moment that has brought me to tears. It breaks my heart, every time.
There they are, the Classic Disney Princess relationships that I find to be the most realistic, and ultimately, the best. I know a large majority of people won’t agree with my choices – and that’s alright.
All I ask is that before te write a negative comment, at least read what I had to say about the couple in question. (I realize a lot of people just look at the pictures – which is why I included many!)
Thanks for reading!
