Of all the things that are continually detto about the princesses, this is the one that grates on me the most. Not only is it horribly untrue, but no one ever comes to Aurora's defense. Since I am tired and continually typing the same thing over and over again, I thought it would be più convenient to post my articolo like this and just link to it whenever I need to. Remember guys, it's okay to have your own opinions. Doesn't mean those opinions are always right though.

Let's start out da defining a Mary Sue.
A fictional character, usually female, who is the epitome of perfection. Most commonly without flaws, and usually seen as an author's self insert.

EDIT: There are only two types of Mary Sue. Blank Slate, o Self Insert. Self Inserts are idealized versions of the author, Blank Slates are empty vessels with no real traits that explain their thoughts o actions. They are there for the reader to go for a ride as, ala Bella cigno o Ana Steele.
Aurora is fictional, she is a female. Contrary to popolare belief, Aurora does have flaws. She is not perfect. Also, it's pretty doubtful she's a self insert, unless the animator's dream was to be a shy, blonde teenager.

So, let's talk about flaws. Yes, she does have them. Aurora has no backbone, she's shy, she lacks common sense, she has horrible social skills, and indecisive. Since te wont believe me, I'll lista in-canon references to these flaws.

Lack of Backbone → Aurora shows lack of backbone to stand up for herself. She is unable to find the strength to marry the one she loves (unlike Philip, who planned to do just that), to stand up for the life she wanted, o to just generally decide anything for herself. Even when she meets Philip, she just kind of goes along with what he wants.
Shy → Aurora can openly flirt and play with her animal friends, and be sly and playful with her Aunt's but mix anyone else into the mix and she's a nervous wreck. When she first meets Philip she stutters, changes her mind a lot, barely talks, etc. Even with her friends, she seems to spend most of her time just sitting in comfortable silence. Which brings me to my successivo point..
Bad Social Skills → This mostly has to do with her being raised away form people, but this doesn't make it any less of a flaw. Similarly to shyness, Aurora appears to have the inability to have long conversations, she occasionally stutters, and she's very uptight around new people. When she meets Philip, she barely has any clue what to do so she just follows his lead. Thank goodness Philip was an honorable gentleman, otherwise something horrible may have happened to Aurora.
Indecisive → What can I say, Aurora sucks at making decisions. While this can be inferred from her tendency to follow other people's orders, te can watch the scene where she meets Phillip and see her change her mind multiple times in the span of a few short minutes.

She obviously doesn't have as many flaws as, say, Ariel or... Ariel.. But shes pretty on par with the likes of Cenerentola and Belle. So shut up about her not having flaws.

Now, how about some virtues? We've heard the usual beauty and song bit, but what about the actual good stuff about Aurora's personality? How about her kindness, her playful nature, her respectful and responsible character?

Kindness → Come on, she's nice to everyone. Literally everyone. It's almost like she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's nice to the fairies, nice to Philip, nice to her friends. Pint has been made.
Playful → Playing along with her Aunt's plans? Playing along with her friends? Her playful nature seems to coincide with her shyness, giving her the ability to go along with whatever the other person wants from her.
Responsible → This goes along with obedience and respect. Aurora does what she's told. Sure, she most likely does it because she doesn't have the nerve to not, but it still counts as a virtue. After all, the best character flaws go hand in hand with the character virtues.
Intelligence → Aurora's pretty smart, really. i'm not joking. She picks up on her Aunt's plans, she has enough imagination to go along with her Friends game, she knows enough to not trust Philip immediately (until she's sure he's the one from her dreams. Calm down, it's a fairy tale). She has enough strength of mind to pull out of Maleficent's spell. She's got a powerful mind, I wish we could have seen più of it.

And the filler traits that every good character needs.
Romantic → She falls in Amore with someone in her dreams, can te get più romantic?
Poised → She may be shy and suck with people, but the way she carries herself portrays elegance and glamour. Maybe it's a shield?
Selfless → Again, goes along with lack of back bone and responsible, but she does give up her entire life, all of her dreams, for her people. While Ariel for example, gave up her people o her dreams. That takes some strength of character to even comprehend doing.
Friendly → She may be shy, but once she's comfortable with te she's perfectly friendly. She eventually warms up to Philip for example.
Feminine → People often recognize her for this, she has a soft, girly attitude.
Dreamy → Her Amore song is about dreams. She giorno dreams. She's like the dentition of dreamy.

So, there te go. I've offered a lista of flaws, virtues, and filler traits. Sure, she isn't the deepest character like Ariel o Rapunzel. But she is still on par with gelsomino and Belle Aurora is a collection of traits typical of a fairy tale princess and even the modern giorno YA Heroine. Seriously, there are popolare book characters with less to put on paper than her. Most of her traits even intertwine together, which is pretty great honestly.
Hate her all te want, go ahead. But successivo person who calls her a Mary Sue is getting an all trofei rage on their ass. STOP CALLING HER A MARY SUE. THIS ISN'T EVEN ARGUABLE ANY MORE. I'M SICK OF IT. HATE HER ALL te WANT, BUT SHE JUST ISN'T ONE.

*Yeah, this is rushed and ranty and bitchy and not as lengthy as I'd like. I'm a busy girl. Enjoy.

Seriously, if these three were princesses they'd be #1
Seriously, if these three were princesses they'd be #1
Oh my god! This is literally the hardest countdown I've ever done! I did this lista awhile back and my opinion has changed radically on all the princesses. With my favourites list, one princess moved, with this lista they've all changed places, I used math to help me rank them and I was surprised, especially da my #8. I gave each of them scores of 1-10 for three different areas, face, body and hair. Then added it up. No one got 30 as their final score. Funny enough, even though they're princesses, none of them are perfect. To be honest I'm only sure about my superiore, in alto two, this lista could change again...

I'm sure we all know how old most of the Disney Princesses are since we get to know it from their movies, but some of them has a different age in their original and some aren't even mentioned, but this is mainly what other have said, but it's also my guessings on some of them. Anyways enjoy!

Snow White:
There has been many discussions on how old she is in the Disney movie since it's never mentioned, but if te didn't knew it already she's 14 in the Disney version. In the original fairytale she's only 7 years old as most of us know, but did te knew that in most of the newer versions of the classic...
