I know I'm going to regret this because of the Ariel vs Merida war but oh well. Anyway I love both but Ariel has better qualities in my opinion.

I like both, but Ariel is better in my opinion. I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about Merida if people want to include her in their picks leave them alone. I don't know I just find the situation quite irritating.

We have the same #1 DP and #1 Pixar Heroine! But I don't see why anyone would bother you for this it's not like you're saying their both Princesses

It's not that people will bother me it's that I don't want people to get over a fight over which one of the two is better. These two are really similar and people usually get into a fight over them, they have since before Merida's movie even came out.

As much as I love the Little Mermaid and the characters I just happen to like Merida more because I can relate.

By a long shot. And this comes from someone who does really like Merida - but she doesn't possess even nearly enough uniqueness to measure up to Ariel's complexity or to even make it to the top of my list of favourite Pixar heroines (because Dori FTW). I like the storyline in Brave and Merida is hilarious, dashing and entertaining, however, she literally and allegedly cursed her mother in order to effect her mind and as a result - her health by giving her a muffin that could have easily been poisoned whereas Ariel never tried to change Triton nor did she ask Ursula for that - the only person she wanted to change was herself.

Gosh, by far! Merida is awesome! Ariel is horrible.
