I have noticed that pretty much no-one has a bad opinion on her, even many neutral ones, and anyone who says a word against her is shut down very quickly or attacked. Not just here, in general.

I think she may be even more idealized than Rap or Belle. Hm.

I dislike her strongly. She from looks is average,plain and nothing what stands out. Her outfits are so dreary and ugly.

Personality wise,she annoys me being so man-like and doesn't show her female qualities. Yes we all have those sides ,but she is a woman and is acts nothing like it..She pretends to be a guy seriously wait to be proud of yourself . All the princess are different and special they accept how they are. Before I get a comments about Ariel wanting to be a human that was for love she accepted being a mermaid ,but would rather love another from land.

Her bland features really get to me.

Her love interest bores me. I completely must say Mulan is not the best disney movie in MY opinion. Nor is Mulan the prettiest in MY opinion.

This is what I think. Yes the movie itself isn't too bad. I saw better though. The better films outshine hers ,so there is why the movie is at the bottom. As for pretty levels she is at the bottom ,because she is too plain.

zikkiforever - she went to war so her dad wouldn't die, that is way she dressed as a man, so she also did it for love, like Ariel became human for love.

i dont hate her but she really bores me and goodness are her fans the worst!!!! they put her high ona pedestel and act like every princess except maybe belle and pocahantas are bad.
she is pretty to me but i hate how perfect she is, and yes she is, she magically can do everything better then the men who are better trained and stronger than her and her crazy plans always magically work. her flaws arent really flaws- she is lazy yeah but the movie makes her a really good person anyway. she doesnt have a temper like jasmine or is obsessive like ariel or too trusting like snow white.
also she didnt have to save her dad, nobody forced her to. it was good yes but it was his job to be the protector. she os just so brave, so smart, so strong, so selfless, so perfect.

also i hate the idea that she only is called strong and respectable as a boy!!!! that is SO SEXIST!! nobody cares about her as a girl.

seriously, she is just a feminist saint icon now. and now every heroine has to be kick*** like her or they suck !

girlygirlspwn-I think every princess has good qualities and are strong and respectable in different ways. Being "kick-*ss" isn't the reason I love Mulan. I try not to put her up on a pedestal, but maybe I do without realizing it. I like her girl side, the awkward, unsure, sweet girl she is. I think she's very flawed, too. She's clumsy, has a hard time fitting in with both men and women, inscecure, etc. You could say that it's unrealistuc how she becomes stronger so fast, but I'm sure it took a loooooooong time of training to get to be like that. She almost got sent home for being spineless, pale, pathetic. I like the development she goes through. Seeing her confident, persistent, and more assured makes me admire her, though it also makes her unrelatable (I can't relate anyway). I also would like to see a female character that doesn't "kick butt" but still is strong in her own way, has a nice personality, and is a good role model. Maybe like the classic princesses!

She's okay for me. I don't love her and I don't hate her I just like her but you had like and love together.

mallomar- no I havent seen you do that personally but i have seen most of her fans do it. like that facebook page "mulan saved a country, all sleeping beauty did was wake up" and "mulan didnt wait around for a man to rescue her" stuff like that. Umm neither did the others! it just isnt fair. i dont think many of her fans even like her personaity, they just like what she did.

I believe some of her fans are like you said but definitely not all. I have never met one like that. You sound a lot like my elder brother who hates Mulan deeply. You're free to dislike her as far I care, she's still my favorite and noone will change that. I love especially her because of her clumsy personality, just to mention.
Your reasonings to dislike her doesn't make sense to me at all, it feels to me that you haven't really even watched her movie. It also sounds that you won't care other opinions about the matter so I won't bother writing them down.

If "mixed feelings" option were included, I would be pick it. I find her overrated and not as feminist as people say she is. I believe it's strong sense of self-worth makes a female character feminist, not rebelliousness and activity. Mulan can be too sacrifical.
On other hand, there are things I like about her too.
