Shang hardly was interested in women before actually falling in love, and in ancient China, I doubt that it was respected too be a player. Shang was determined in keeping his honor, thus he makes no interaction with women until he gets married, because you wouldn't just get married to whoever you wanted to, your parents would choose your partner.
