By most misunderstood-- do you mean by those on Fanpop, by the internet sites ( Tumblr, IMDB, etc,), or most misunderstood by people who hate/dislike Disney Princesses in general?

There are...categories of misunderstandings found in each of these areas. That makes this question harder for me to answer with just voting for any specific princess.

Can you narrow down what the specific misunderstood "area" is?

^ most misunderstood by Fanpop in general. They may strongly dislike/hate any character or just understand a character simply opposite to popular opinion

^Ah-ha. Okay. Thanks for the explanation.

I'd have to pick several options, then, because the majority of my opinions don't line up with most of Fanpop's users.

This isn't going to be specifically tied to voting in this poll, because, then, I would have to pick multiple options.

To this day, I don't find any of the princesses "to be perfect." There isn't a character that is perfectly balanced. I don't think Mulan is perfect. Contrary to most users, I certainly don't think Belle is perfect at all.

I think each one of the Disney princesses makes a stupid/dumb decision in the context of her own movie. They all do, and I'll stand by that statement.

I don't think differing interpretations on the same film are a bad thing, but I do think that users can skip easily from critiquing a princess into critiquing the user who identifies with that princess.

I also think there is a sharp tendency to do what Tumblr and IMDB does: assign a princess with flaws that are not based on her actual actions in her movie.

princesslullaby picked Ariel:
I will say Ariel, because I see so many people (not on fanpop) believe that she sang Part of Your World AFTER she met Eric, which isn't true. They think she says she wants Eric from the beginning, when fact is she wanted to be human BEFORE she met Eric. Also in general, people call her stupid or selfish when she is neither. They're just really hard on the princesses and expect them to be perfect all the time.

Also calling Jasmine mean (WHAT?!?!?!?!! SHES THE NICEST PERSON IN THE MOVIE!!) and Merida purposefully poisoning her mother-- this I really only see on fanpop but it's fairly obvious Merida had no intent to poison her mom.

Jasmine as well, but I feel like people villainize Ariel and Merida more than necessary, most Disney Princess are perfectly fine, but people blow their flaws out of proportion not really getting the story or the intentions of the princess.

Swanpride picked Cenerentola:
You only have to watch a Twist of tale to see confirmation of that. No understanding for the inner strength Cinderella displays, instead they turn her into a boring action girl and even get complimented for it. And then there is this huge chunk of people who think that he big goal is marrying a prince when in truth, she just wants a fun time at the ball and doesn't even know that she is dancing the prince.

Sparklefairy375 picked Merida:
^I don't see what's wrong for turning Cinderella to be more active...there's a large gap between original and sequel.

She's tend to be treated as spoiled brat and peoples just villainize her for accidentally cursing her mother, even after she was sorry.

AdelitaI picked Mulan:
I think some people consider her as an embodiment of masculinity( this is why people often call her and Aurora oppossites) while she is much complex and deep character.

But it's tempting to vote Mulan because so much of the off-fanpop fandom really thinks she's some hyper-masculine ladette who is Not Like Other Girls, hates femininity/women, and has no flaws.

I would say a lot of the DPs get pretty misunderstood though... People judge movies they haven't seen since they were toddlers and make silly claims like "they're vapid bimbos who need a man, married the first man they met, and wear sparkly dresses all day". Jasmine is a harpy, Snow is stupid, Cinderella is a shallow gold digger, etc.
