Emma Stone won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance as the aspiring actress Mia in
The star was nominated alongside 20th Century Women’s Annette Bening, Rules Don’t Apply’s Lily Collins, The Edge of Seventeen’s Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Foster Jenkins’ Meryl Streep.

"This is a film for dreamers," said Stone in her acceptance speech. "I think that hope and creativity are two of the most important things in the world."
Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, which costars Stone and Ryan Gosling (who won the award for Best Actor Comedy/Musical), has received widespread praise for its originality in storyline, score and cinematography. The musical earned the most wins of the night--a total of seven, breaking the record for the most Golden Globes won by a single film. It took winning 
Best Original Score, Best Screenplay, Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical, Best Picture (Comedy/Musical), Best Director and Best Original Song.
The movie has also been a hit at the box office, already grossing close to triple its $30 million budget.
There was something about these characters and what they\'re going through that feels very human and natural even in their fantastic circumstances," said Stone, speaking backstage. "Struggling and falling in love is something I think everybody can relate to in some way."
Stone, who is a triple threat of charm in this film with her singing, dancing and acting, has been charming audiences since her supporting role in 2007’s Superbad, but didn’t fully breakout until a star turn in 2010’s Easy A, a box-office hit that also won her a Golden Globe nomination. With her co-starring role in 2011’s The Help, Stone gained critical acclaim and was nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award for her supporting role in 2015’s Birdman.
