If cancer's zodiac sign is supposed to be sideways, why is it always up and down in the show?

i looked it up and saw a few diagonal and a few vertical. I'm assuming it's whatever they want it to be. Maybe Giappone draws differently o Hiro Mashima wantedd it to stand out. Cancer is one of the few that wouldn't look weird sideways so he may have taken advantage of it.
