Sokka was trapped in his own world. He felt like he couldnt get out no matter how hard he tried. It was just imposible.

While resting after they had found Aang, he was thinking about what would have happened if he hadn't drinken the sweet and oh so delectibe cactus juice.

If I hadn't drinken that stuff, I would be sleeping right now. I would be maybe even helping to rescue Appa, he thought to himself. Nah, but now I'm thirsty, and a lot hungry, he thought again.

After some time of thinking, he didn't even notice that Momo had made a sand dome aound him, until Katara shook him out of thought.
