It didn't move the plot, it was just having him cheating for the sake of it (or so it seemed. Surely they must be planning on making it relevant down the line, otherwise why bother?). It wasn't even necessary to add to his revelation that he needs to be single for a while imo, since that was covered by Terri/their prom song. It just seemed so mean and pointless I was kind of slack jawed through the whole scene. It lowered my opinion of Will too, it's one thing to decide he's not ready for a serious relationship with Emma, but wait till after you've told her to start making out with people. Quinn flat out told Puck that she didn't want to be with him, she wanted to handle things alone. And yet the first scene we see of them is him saying "I'm not dumping you..."
