Ashok Sundari is a Hindu goddess the daughter of Lord Shiva & Parvati. She is very rarely known as she is not mentioned nor in Vedas & neither in Puranas. She is mainly known in Gujarati folktales & is created when Parvati makes Ganesha. It is detto that when Lord Shiva kills Ganesha, Ashok Sundari hides behind bags of salt because she is frightened da her father. When Parvati finds out that her son is dead, she curses Ashok Sundari to melt in salt. However, after cooling down she blesses Ashok Sundari to be reborn in a rich family.
Her name can be diviso, spalato : Ashok means 'without sorrow' (Parvati created Ganesha & Ashok sundari to get rid of her sorrow of missing Mahadev & Kartikeya) & Sundari means 'beautiful girl'. Devon ke Dev ... Mahadev revealed Ashok Sundari to people.

There is another version of the precedente story. For many stories from the Puranas, there are different versions. Some are even contradictory. te can choose whichever one te like.

Brahma was meditating in order to get a son. All of a sudden, after thousands of years of meditation, he saw a child in his lap. He was filled with happiness, but the child immediately started crying. His body was racked with sobs. Brahma asked the child, “Tell me, my son, why are te crying?” The little boy sighed, “I need a name.”

“You need a name?” repeated his father. Brahma immediately gave him the...

Lord Shiva can be viewed in two senses. I dont know which one te are referring, so Im gonna tell both.
First of all, Hinduism teaches monotheism, the absolute Nirakara Rupa Parabrahma being classified into different forms o avatars like waves in the ocean. Lord Shiva is one of it. Therefore, he can supposed to be a personification of a form of energy required for act of destruction, scientifically speaking. Lord Shiva is then part of the absolute, te cannot tell which yuga he lived because he is always living. It's like asking in which anno did kinetic energy exist?.
If te are asking in the...

The story of Murugan's courtship and his union with the daughter of the hunters, Valli, is the most important of all Tamil myths of the secondo marriage of a god. In the Sanskrit tradition, Skanda is either an eternal brahmacārin (bachelor) o the husband of a rather colourless deity, Devasena, the Army of the Gods. In Tamil, in contrast, the earliest reference to a bride of Murugan is to Valli and there can be no doubt whatsoever that Valli is the più popolare and più important of Murugan's two brides. Hence, I do regard the lovely myth of Murugan and Valli as an indigenous-autochthonous...
