i dont think rowling necessarily had hitler in mind when she created voldemort. the big difference between them is that when he saw he was going to lose, hitler gave up. voldemort will never give in.

Voldemort isn't Pureblood, and Hitler wasn't pureblood (in his terms). It's all very similar. I actually like how similar it is. Voldy killed/kills all these people that aren't "perfect" because he wishes he was (and he's ashamed he's not). It's exactly like Hitler. It's brilliant.

Yes, he really does esp. in the last book. Voldemort himself wasn't pureblood, but he only wanted to keep those around and tried to convince everyone that the Muggle-borns were trash, just like Hitler.

Their ideas are simular, as are their personaltys. The only differnce is there methods (Voldey used magic) and the fact Hitler gave in by killing himself

i was just saying to one of my friends the other day - the motives, the personalities, the ideas ... everything is similar. I think that's where J/.K.Rowling got the idea from, she's always saying how she bases her characters and storylines on actual real people and things, so ... maybe ...

Voldemort is his own unique, awesome, evil, and magical character. Who would even think Voldemort is like hitler. there's a HUGE DIFFERENCE PEOPLE! The great thing about Harry Potter is that you can relate it to real history. Voldemort believed muggles weren't worthy of living and that pure-blood wizards were more important than anybody else. His slaughter of muggles can be compared to Hitlers mass-killings of Jews. While they aren't completely alike, the same core principles are there.

All the stuff they have in book seven, with muggle-borns being sent to azkaban and being accused of "stealing" magic, always reminds me of the holocaust, along with blood-traitors being considered the same as muggle-borns and Voldermort wanting to create a "pure" world.

Voldemort does not remind me of Hitler at all. Hitler was a dictator. Hitler's followers did not necessarily believe in what he was doing, but did what they were told out of fear. Voldemort reminds me more of Charles Manson. Manson was the head of a cult with followers that would do his bidding voluntarily and shared his beliefs. So, basically, I see Voldemort and the Death Eaters as a cult.

I think J.K. must have had Hitler in mind in some ways simply due to the fact that Hitler aspired an aerian race, without 'flaw' (in his eyes, anyone not blonde haired and blue eyed/ Jewish/ disabled etc) whilst Voldemort sought an all-pure-blood race.
However, not in all ways, due to the fact that Voldemort would not give up when Hitler did (miiyamya). Which is why I answered the question 'yes', it having stated that they were similar in "some ways".

Both he and Gellerd Grindelwald- though Gellerd fits the time period (Dumbledore defeated him in 1945, the same year WWII ended), and Gellerd was taking over Europe, but didn't try England (Hitler actually did try, but couldn't, Gellard on the other hand feared Dumbledore).

I think voldemord is a bit like hitler. They are both half bloods and still they hate the people who are fully jew or muggle born. The're both very evil and had pretty much followers. And eventually they both wanted to rule the world and where both dictators.

Hitler liked to have people around him and actually worked well with people. Hitler was also very trusting at first. Voldemort trusts no one doesn't even try to work with people and he doesn't care who he kills. It's more people like the Malfoys that care about purebloods. Voldemort was halfblood.

They both wanted to destroy everyone who they considered "not worthy", when they were one themselves. Not exactly though, Hitler had Jewish people in his family, and he wanted to kill all Jews, and Voldemort hated all non purebloods, when he's not a pureblood himself.
