----------------------------------------
The rain poured over the PPTH as the doctors and patients rushed in. Not even five minuti ago, it was a warm clear evening when the rain snuck up and attacked. The lobby quickly filled as everyone tried to get inside and get dry.
“Are te kidding me,” Dr. Lisa Cuddy said, “This is the sixth time this week it started pouring without warning,” She complained.
The head of Oncology, who was taking a short break, ran up successivo to the Dean and shook off loose water from his lab coat.
“It’s freezing outside,” He stated, “I hate it when this happens and we’re all out there.” He observed.
“You think it’s bad for you? I have to deal with everyone,” Lisa continued to whine; “As if my job wasn’t difficult enough.”
As più and più people entered to get away from the freezing rain, Cuddy asked everyone to stay calm and head to where they belong. She ordered some nurses to get towels from the basement and give it to everyone who was soaking wet.
“You better listen to her,” Dr. Gregory House said, “Or she’ll bite your heads off… literally,” He added.
Cuddy just rolled her eyes and sighed, “What do te want now, House?”
“Why would te think I wanted something, Cuddles,” House referred to her nickname. He put a case on the tavolo and slid it to her, “I need to cut a guys head off.”
Cuddy didn’t bother looking at the file before she quickly answered no.
“Hey, that’s not fair. te didn’t even look at the file,” House whined like a 7 anno old.
“I don’t need to look, my answer is no! He has enough brain damage as is. We don’t need to add more,” Cuddy defended.
“He has brain legions! I need to cut his head open!” House countered.
Cuddy signed and opened the file. She quickly looked over it, making sure she didn’t miss any detail before answering again with a stern no.
“Do and MRI and if there are any signs of brain legions I’ll grant te permission to cut the guys head open.” Cuddy negotiated giving the file back to the diagnostician.
House rocked a little and looked frustrated. “We already did an MRI, nothing,” He stated.
“Then te aren’t cutting his head open.”
“If we don’t he’ll die.”
“Look, how about te leave him alone for tonight and if he gets worse then I’ll let te do whatever! Now leave!” Cuddy demanded sadistically.
House didn’t intend on backing off but he knew Cuddy wasn’t going to change her mind. No, not tonight - not when she is so busy. He turned around to leave and Cuddy smirked victoriously hearing him limp away.
The rain continued to pour harder and harder, almost reminding them of hail. Lighting and thunder soon followed causing the sick children to gather with frightened looks on their pale faces. Dr. Dickins, head of the pediatric ward, asked the kids if they wanted to hear a story. They all nodded as they started cheered up. He then looked around to see if a certain doctor was coming to hear it. When he saw her eyeing the group he decided to go on with it.
“Once upon a time,” He began as Dr. House approached, interested in the newest lame story, “Not long fa there was a hospital just like this PPTH. It had fabulous Doctors. They had a very handsome pediatrician,” He continued as the kids giggled. Cuddy appeared wanting to know what was going on, “And a very pretty boss,” he winked at her causing her to blush intensely. “It was a successful hospital, but they had one really bad diagnostician,” House glared at him Leggere his “subtle” message. “One giorno that very bad diagnostician went missing! Saying that he will get the hospital for all the things they did to him.”
House rolled his eyes and leaned towards Cuddy whispering, “Is this guy for real? I mean this has to be worse than the Frog Doctor.” Cuddy tried to contain her laughter and blush remembering that story.
It had been a remake of the Frog Prince, but it was about him. She hated the way the story went, but decided to keep it to her self as it made some of the sick children laugh and smile.
“Some kids enjoy his stories,” She stated whispering back, “Besides I don’t see te trying to tell them a “good” story.”
House looked at her with a smirk and a look that Cuddy dreaded to see. “I accept your challenge Dr. Cuddy-kins.”
Dickins finished his story with the “handsome” pediatrician and boss living happily ever after while winking once più at Cuddy. House was amused and Cuddy was disgusted. She faked a smile and forced a laugh seeing all the children happy and content.
Dickins stood and bowed in front of the kids. House limped over, and pushed him to the ground and squatted to the kids. “Alright kiddies, do te wanna hear a real ghost story now that Dr. Fairy Tales is done?”
The boys cheered loving ghost stories as the girls just nodded in a hesitant agreement. Dickins stood up and walked successivo to Cuddy who was a bit amused with the encounter.
“Can te believe the likes of that guy?” Cuddy just smiled, still disgusted and transferred her complete and utter attention to Dr. House.
“One dark day,” He began, “Not long ago, on a stormy night like tonight, there was a hospital not far away. A man walked in and went to a nurse’s desk. She thought he was completely normal as he asked for a patient. She gave him the room, and he left not taking his hand out of his jacket.” House stopped looking around, observing how the kids leaned inoltrare, avanti wanting more. “He went up the patient’s room and locked the door. Then he shut off the cameras and shut the blinds. He approached the letto and he…” he left it for a moment seeing even the doctors and nurses, including Dickins and Cuddy, were consumed in the story and wanted to hear what he did.
“He what? He what?” House heard a boy ask urgently.
“He took a coltello out of his giacca and he cut the little man’s head off. Then, not fulfilled with that, he chopped the man into sushi pieces, letting the guts and blood cover the entire room. Then, he…” House stopped again seeing the frightened children, “Do te really wanna know?” He asked wickedly seeing the children and adults nod slowly, “He will… get you!” He yelled the last part.
The kids began screaming as some cried. The doctors and nurses just gasped and took deep breaths seeing his trick. They all began to go around trying to calm down the children. Dickins on the other hand stood there and glared at House angrily as House continued to laugh at himself. Suddenly, the lights and power shut off. The children all screamed and cried more, some even ran off in sheer terror.
“Very funny House, now turn the power back on,” Cuddy detto not in the mood for his tricks.
“As much as I wish this was my doing,” House began quietly limping behind where he knew she was. He stayed silent and suddenly grabbed her in an attempt to scare her.
“Nice try but your cane gave te away,” Cuddy lied, secretly frightened, “Now seriously! Turn the power back on!”
“Sorry Cuddles, but this was not my doing, though I really wish it was,” He detto secretly admiring whoever was responsible for this.
“Damn it,” Lisa said, “The storm must have knocked the power out.”
“Or…” House began, quickly hatching an idea, “The killer did it!” He yelled making some kids scream and più run away.
Jabbing House in the ribs Cuddy said, “Stop being a jackass!”
“Owe,” House detto rubbing his chest, “Jabbing isn’t nice, and wasn’t crippling me enough for your evil thirst?”
Cuddy merely sighed and gained her administrative composure once more. She quickly ordered a nurse to get a flashlight and turn on the back up generator before any patients died. When the power returned all the adults could see that only a handful of children huddled on the floor.
“Nice job House,” She detto angrily, “You are such an ass!” Cuddy ordered her employees to start a cerca party and cerca every inch of the hospital. Obediently they followed orders and took off leaving Dickins, House and Cuddy alone in a room with some children.
“I’m going to go look too,” Cuddy announced.
“I’ll accompany you!” Dickins quickly volunteered before anyone else could. Cuddy just inwardly groaned and began to leave allowing Dickins to follow her out.
“Watch out for the killer,” House yelled out, “He could still be in the building!” Cuddy merely rolled her eyes in annoyance once più and ignored his comment. There is no way a killer would ever be in her hospital.
