[edit]Development

This film is Pixar's first fairy tale. Brenda Chapman considers it as a fairy tale in the tradition of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm.[2] Chapman conceived the project and was announced as the director of the film, making her Pixar's first female director,[3] but on October 2010 she was replaced da Mark Andrews. Andrews has now been confirmed as the director of the film and Chapman as the co-director.
The film was initially set for release on June 15, 2012 but was later changed to June 22, 2012.[4]
Mérida is the first female protagonist in a Pixar film.[1] She is expected to unisciti the Disney Princess franchise, making her the first Disney Princess to come from Pixar, as well as Disney's first CGI princess after Rapunzel from Rapunzel - L'intreccio della torre went to being an unofficial princess. Mérida was originally to be voiced da Reese Witherspoon, but due to scheduling conflicts she was replaced da Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald.[1]
