without clothes, mermaid don't wear clothing, but I always thought seaweed or scales across their breasts (females only, of course). and I'm not thinking of The Little Mermaid creatures. I mean the seductive WOMEN mermaids, not kiddie stuff.

I always imagined mermaids "borrowing" human-like fashion. When they can get their hands on human things like bikini tops and rash guards, they wear them proudly. Many mermaids even idolize humans and want to be like them. (The world according to my novels) But whatever they wear, it needs to be tight and smooth so it doesn't interfere with swimming.
