Natasha Bedingfield threatened to eclipse the success of her older brother Daniel when she first burst onto the music scene back in 2005. And in some ways, she did. Debut single, erm, \'Single\' went Top 3 in the UK, but it was follow-up \'These Words\' which solidified her position as pop\'s latest chart topper.
using the title track as its main theme – catapulted her to international fame, along with a rather healthy 2.3 million record sales. By 2007, Natasha Bedingfield was a British solo star soaring to Grammy-nominated success.

But shortly after, her time at the top started to slip away. Like a commitment-phobic man, the British public started to back out slowly after Natasha belted out \'I Wanna Have Your Babies\'.
Some will argue this happened because Natasha all but deserted her commitments in the UK to focus on being a household name in America. She cancelled two headline tours on these shores to concentrate on promoting her album in the US, while also travelling across the continent as part of Justin Timberlake\'s tour.
It meant that while 2008 single \'Pocket Full Of Sunshine\' failed to place on the UK charts, it was actually a Top 5 hit in the US. In the same year, NB took to the stage with Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis and Mary J Blige amongst others for an all-star sing-off for Stand Up To Cancer in New York City. You can\'t accuse her of not giving her part plenty of welly either. What\'s a singer to do when standing in a line-up of the world\'s most famous divas?
But soon after, the success in America started to tail off too. By the time Natasha released her third album
in 2010, she found herself failing to crack the Top 100. Even co-writes from songwriter extraordinaire Ryan Tedder didn\'t help. A reworked version titled
followed in Europe in May 2011, but it didn\'t even dent the UK chart. It was an almighty defeat, but Natasha hasn\'t let it stop her from making music.
Although a fourth album – thought to be titled
– has been pushed back a few times, the 34-year-old has kept her name out there. First there was a great collaboration with Nicki Minaj on \'Last Chance\', which featured on the rapper\'s debut album
. Team-ups with Simple Plan and Rascal Flatts followed, while she also recorded new cut \'Who I Am\' for Disney\'s Tinker Bell spin-off film
Then at the start of last year she released new song \'Hope\' for beauty brand Philosophy\'s Hope & Grace charity initiative, which aims to raise awareness about the stigma of mental illness. That was before she dyed her hair pink – with a big reveal at a swanky luncheon in Los Angeles no less – and then teamed up with Belgian DJ Basto for his latest dance anthem \'Unicorn\'.
Natasha has been rather busy behind the scenes too. The star co-wrote \'Kiss of Life\' with The Corrs last year for their comeback album
, and then there was yet another all-star collaboration just before Christmas.
The singer co-wrote \'Love Song to the Earth\', which saw the likes of Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Fergie, Nicole Scherzinger, Leona Lewis and Sean Paul (amongst others) join her on the track to raise money for Friends of the Earth. The accompanying music video (while obviously for a good cause) is quite something.
But what does the future hold for Natasha Bedingfield? Well, the star is continuing work on
, with a release date still very much in limbo. "I\'ve been doing a few shows here and there but mostly I\'ve been hiding away in the studio working on my new album, which is nearly finished," she said last year. "I\'m on some cool records from artists I greatly admire, and of course I plan to release my own project as soon as it\'s finished and ready. Sometimes it takes a while before the whole thing comes together."
So maybe the reboot NB\'s career needs right now will be kickstarted with her upcoming feature on Naughty Boy\'s new album. She\'s one of a few confirmed vocalists for the anticipated record, along with Beyoncé and Ellie Goulding. If there\'s one thing we enjoy, it\'s an unexpected pop comeback. After all, today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.
