Interview with actor Jared Gilmore, Once Upon A Time\'s "Henry," about the show\'s upcoming 100th episode
airing Sunday night on ABC, and if you’ve been following KSiteTV lately, you’ve seen that we’ve been posting interviews with the show’s cast every day this week.
Today the spotlight falls on Jared Gilmore, who as Henry has practically grown up with the show. You can see video of the interview below, and a transcription can be found underneath. Enjoy, and be sure to come back for more as the 100th episode of
KSITETV’s CRAIG BYRNE: In the Underworld, characters might be facing their demons. Does Henry have any demons, himself?
JARED GILMORE: I think that Henry does have some demons, and while he hasn’t been able to really develop a lot of them, because he’s just a little kid… I think there are some things that still scare him; villains from the past that have tortured him, and he’ll be able to see them again. I think that it’s been and interesting aspect.
I noticed in the midseason episode, where Hook pretty much sacrificed himself, Henry didn’t look away. Was that an intentional choice?
I think, for me, it was. I think it’s the fact that Henry has grown up. He’s not a little kid anymore. He wants to be a hero like the rest of his family, and if that means losing loved ones, then he has to watch and be able to grow.
Which guest stars are you the most excited to see in Episode 100?
Probably Hades. It’s so cool; I love the Hercules movie, and I can’t wait to see them expand upon that. It’s really cool.
I mean, he has one at Regina’s house, but I think that he really does need a bedroom of his own. He’s getting older, and he could do crazy stuff with his room. He’s the Author. He probably has some sort of crazy stuff that he could come up with.
Can you talk about how Henry now has good relationships with both of his moms?
I think it’s awesome. It’s the fact that although he has his birth mom and he really cares about her, he also has his stepmom who raised him, and I think it’s really amazing for Henry to be able to have both of his moms, and all of that loving family.
Was it difficult in the early days of the show to play Henry being mad at Regina when Lana Parrilla is such a nice person?
It always was, and it was amazing, because she’s able to switch from the Evil Queen Regina so quickly to Lana who is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.
Do you have a favorite episode of the 100 that you’ve done so far?
Out of the 100 episodes that I’ve done… I wouldn’t be able to say the exact episode name, but I think my favorite episode is when I got to play Peter Pan. That was so awesome. It was such a new and interesting thing that I never really got to do before, and it was awesome.
And do we get to see you and Robbie Kay (Peter Pan) sharing any scenes again?
I hope so. I think it’d be really cool for me and Robbie to be able to see each other again, first of all, and for Henry and Pan to be able to meet again, because Pan abducted Henry. Pan became Henry for a while. I think [that]’s really interesting.
