Apart from their Amore for the game of basketball, it seems Lucas and Nathan are two young men, with very little in common, but they are bound together da the dark secret that they share a father. Peyton's car breaks down at the side of the road, and Lucas is called to fix it. During a discussion, Lucas tells Peyton about his past with Dan and Nathan. Stunned Peyton then accepts Lucas' proposal of a ride home.

Lucas then shows up at Keith's shop, and at that time Dan is talking to Keith about Karen. Following this, Lucas makes his mind up about the pallacanestro, basket game against Nathan. He decides to accept.

Lucas then wins the match against Nathan, and after all the cheering and clapping, Lucas informs Peyton that Nathan will stay on the team because "it's the last thing he wants".

In the final scene, it shows Lucas entering the gym, with everyone staring at him. A last close-up of the rivercourt, finally empty, is shown at the end.
