Because falling in Amore is a grown-up thing. I wouldn't really say that he can't fall in love, but he definitely doesn't want to and will probably do everything he can to prevent it

I agree. Peter could have the ability to love, but he considers it to be a grown up thing, and we all know that Peter will do whatever it takes for him to not grow up
