Our world is split into two different planes of existence. The physical world, in which all manner of physical matter resides. The second, the spirit world, is where all paranormal creatures, such as spirits and ghouls, reside. These two world are seperated by the Jinzo, or the dimensional barrier. Whenever this barrier weakens, even slightly, corruptive spirits are able to freely enter the Physical World, which could cause the potential destruction of earth if they are allowed to roam this world freely, causing mindless destruction. However, there are certain individuals who can not only see, but inflict damage to these Paranormal creatures by being able to use supernatural abilities that transcend human limits. These people, known as Espers, are the primary fire power of the P.C.O(Paranormal Counter-measure office), an organization dedicated to the protection of humanity from paranormal forces.
