An electric guitar? I'd start with a standard Gibson Stratocaster. That's the one I started out with. I now have a Soulbinder, but a Stratocaster is a good chitarra to start with.

If te want an acoustic guitar, I started with a steel-string Western guitar. Steel strings are easier to play, since nylon strings tend to 'move down' with your pick more. That can be a bit annoying. I'd start with a steel-string chitarra if I were you.

When te get your first guitar, always go for something that is cheap and not exactly precision, maybe even a used one. Why? Because te might loose interest very quickly, o te might decide that it isn't for you, so really, get anything. If te have been playing for at least 2 years and te are really enjoying it, and practacing well, then te are ready to kick it up a notch, and if te haven't found out enough about guitars da then to decide, then something is wrong, but if te don't know, then anything da Gibson is usually good and Fenders are good, but I have heard they are over priced.
