Why are te still here?

Genuinely asked da a user of 8 years.

Compared to other social media, fanpop is a rather quiet place. Surely most don't hang around in a moderate active website for the shits and giggles. Whats your peculiar reason for preferring this place over others? (Or at least making it a vital part of your social media experience)

^ its all fun until it gets boring tbh i am doing the thing called "keep logging in until te get bored" xD but tbh nothing to do here for "ME" but i will never cancella my profilo tbh

^ i wouldnt log in too often if i was you. If anything fanpops nice precisely because theres no obligation to be constantly active. And i'd find it unfortunate if te did delete, so its a good thing te arent doing it c :

I am a user of 8 years as well. 8 years this past February. To be honest. It's the fact of my Friends are here and the fact I want to backup all of my data. Most of my Friends are on discord now so it's not that big of a deal but prior to recente events my Friends were a driving reason as to why I stayed.

In all honesty I prefer the layout of sites like tumblr and I used to be on tumblr way più but I stopped that thanks to the new ToS they rolled out last December.

I used to be a heavy user of tumblr too, but all my Friends got wiped out da the nsfw filter thing back in december and nothings been the same. It also doesnt help it has some rather infamous fractions too. Discord truly is the haven these days. And yay for 8 years club, i also get nostalgic simply because theres so much weird shit i used to write in my teens lol.

@ayumu Yup discord is the haven. And woot 8 years club. And fair point when you're on a site for a while. It's fair to get nostalgic.

And ya...........the nsfw purge was just annoying. I just joined other nsfw tumblr like sites to deal with it.

Combination of habit, some of my Friends still being here, and (mostly) I've already invested 10+ years on this site so I guess I might as well stick around d until this site takes its last breath.

Also helps that it isn't full of sjw, and an overload of politics (I mean it has its moments but is tame da comparison). Same with fandom, these days fandom feuds aren't as common place and disagreements are usually più peacefully resolved on here than on most other sites I go on.

The last part resonates with me a lot. The other big social media sites has a very strong political aspect to it, even when just trying to engage in fandom fun and have some escapism. I used to Amore tumblr until the atmosphere there became toxic, and since then its felt very hard for me to find a corner of fandom that doesnt get political somehow. Its ironic, perhaps its that theres no one to perform for on here so te can just be yourself. 10 years is a long time! Im just curious about something: fanpop news is updates, but does anyone know who owns it? Isnt there a mod team o anything?

"even when just trying to engage in fandom fun and have some escapism." That's why tumblr drives me crazy especially as a fan of villains who likes 'problematic' characters. Like yes, Chuck, the villain is doing villain things. The villain is not PC because the villain is busy being evil. And the ship wars in the Voltron fandom...holy cow I've seen people accused of being homophobic for liking Acxa because she got in the way of Klance >.> I also used to Amore tumblr now I'm there for the memes and fanart. I try to stay out of the politics. Honestly yeah that's an aspect too; te can be yourself. This is one of the few platforms where I'm not afraid to be 100% open with my opinions.

I feel like it's the same four; papa, cliff, dave, and michael. But They aren't active anymore. They used to actually post and commento on sondaggi and stuff. It's been years since that has happened.

Friends but also this site can be very fun sometimes. Though it's hard to believe I actually been on fanpop for a lot of years, just can't get on my first and secondo account. I should go count how many years I been on here, also if te ask why I can't get on my other two just forgot my password. That's why it's called Blaze1213isback(first account was Blaze1213).

I have been here for 7 Years myself. It is many times that I wondered why I keep staying. Especially during my first years in here. fanpop has been addictive. There were plenty of activities to partake throughout the Site. Have always been enthusiastic discovering it as a fan of a variety of things myself. I came to see, as time passed, that fanpop isn't what it used to be. Various glitches, the Admins being incompetent, trolls / spammers all over the place and the activity declining in general. Still, I have been having my fun. Met a number of people that I'm glad to have gotten closer and consider them Friends of mine. Some that I keep in contact through others means as well and others that I can exclusively find on this Site. Either way, I have gone through various phases / situations while being active in here and those memories remain with me. Don't get me wrong. I'm not staying for the nostalgia. Might be included as a bit of a reason but not one of the major ones. I still have my interests in here. Staying for my Friends and hoarding anything of interest I can find as well as sharing it with the rest. It has become a habit visiting the place each day. Sometimes, the quietness it offers can be refreshing XD A good break from the hustle and bustle of everything else !!!!

I'm actually here for the quiet / moderate activity. I don't really like how bustling other websites are like reddit and Facebook and tumblr and what not. It is easy to get Lost in the community and not actually get to see faces regularly enough to make friends

Tbh tho the main reason is just out of habit / routine XD

I wouldn't say its a major part of my social media experience. I just kinda visit

Just to suffer ✌

But in all seriousness, I'm here because it's not overwhelming with too many people tbh and I can still express my interests and talk to people. Other sites are a bit crowded which is good for activity but I prefer smaller groups.

A user of 11 years here... (even though I've had years when I didn't get online at all), più o less it's the community and polls. Not worth to check this site every day, but at least twice a week the curiosity gets the better of me, and I kinda just wanna check what's new.
Would I be sad if they suddenly closed Fanpop? - Maybe for the nostalgia's sake.
Would I miss this site? -Not really.

It will be my 8 years on this coming December. There are few thing. First, friends. Second, habit. At this point it has become a part of my routine to check Fp every now and then even if nothing is going on. Third, I like how peaceful it is and very few thin skinned people and SJWs. Everyone knows everyone. fanpop is like a medieval village of the internet. Slow paced place to relax.
