I personally feel like having family there that won't be with you in the thin and thick is harder then not knowing your family. Even both are very hard and rare to happen. I think seeing your family reject you and seriously don't like you is way more harder than not knowing your family. It's tough dealing with both problems and I respect how hard it's to go through both.

I always thought knowing your family and then they die is more heart breaking. Compare the two characters that you know very much about or a character you don't know at all. Which one will you feel worse from losing?

Yet again It depends what you mean by "having a family but having to rise yourself." I just thought of the first thing that came in my mind when you said that.

I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. It means you have parents but they ignore you and don't take care of you so you have to take care of yourself and be the one who has to raise yourself.

I think it hurts much worse this way— when u have a family, but they don't support u in the way they should.

You would also have to raise yourself at times if you grew up alone. (Depending on the situation you're in.)
