Um I remember in senior year in HS I just didn't give a fuck and look at where that got me, I ended up having the lowest GPA I ever had since 6th grade. In my first semester in college, I actually studied hard and got a perfect 4.0 GPA. I must say I felt really good and will keep it up this semester. It's not like I have a social life anyway.
It depends on what you want out of life. If you want a career that depends on gaining an education, then you need to work for it. Not to say that you should drive yourself to exhaustion over it but if you've set goals for yourself it's important to try to meet them.
If you're not interested in a career that depends on a formal education- which is a completely legitimate life choice- then you don't necessarily need to focus on grades. Although I will say that sometimes you change your mind later in life. But it's never to late to go back to school.
Unfortunately we live in a world (at least in the U.S) where grades are what get you places in life. It's almost naive to pretend like they don't matter. As much as I'd love to just not give a crap, I have to. I at least have to get a C and pass the class. But getting A's get's me more free financial aid to get into my dream college. Of course I'll give myself a break and relax but grades are important. At one point I got so frustrated with and gave up on math and got a D, guess who had to retake the damn class? You should worry and care about your grade to some degree.
It depends what stance you are taking on life. If you want to reach the heights of your potential, then yes you need to get good grades in your examinations. If you cannot be bothered with the sheer effort of getting good grades than yes they could see it is life is too short to worry and stress yourself out about such petty number/ alphabetical scales. Personally, i want to achieve great things in life so yes i think that you should worry about your grades to a certain degree but, then again i think that stressing over your grades and becoming brainwashed is not the way to go. You will only end up decreasing your academic potential/ability which is a total waste of the time and effort that you put in in the first instance. To conclude, i think that you should take life as it comes and deal with problems and issues when they arise. There is a quote from a film that i have lived by and i would like to share it with people "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."
Lmao I'll never understand that "Life's too short" nonsense.
Life, particularly human life, is a very long time.
If we lived a mere 10 years, then yes, life is too short to focus on trying to achieve something.
But no. We are here to stay, given that we are healthy, a very long time. So get focused in life and you'll be happy with the result to live comfortably later on.

I just hate it because grades don't measure your intelligence or worth, and yet so many people have grown to believe that.
