That should keep some satisfied for a while. By the way, freedom of speech. You are allowed to protest but bear in mind that most people on the internet don't take it as an offense.
My "ha.." had nothing to do with the word epic.
I just don't like how rude and snyde people are being just because Harry Potter isn't my favorite book. It's just stupid.
I don't see what your point is.
People can say whatever they want. That doesn't mean I don't have the right to be bothered by it.
Not every little thing is created to spark depate. This was a pick created out of pure curiosity. I am not trying to change anyones ideals. I only provided a definition when one was asked for.
Your invalidity complex is unnecessary in this context.
I'm not impressed.
I apologise for turning this into a debate.
Please explain to me the lay-person how my invalidity complex was unecessary? Because I'm not very impressed here either.
There's a choice stating "Yes. Epic does not mean cool."
You say this choice says epic=cool is invalid
There is also a choice stating "Nope. Epic means cool, no matter what those dictionaries say."
By your logic, this choice says dictionary definitions are invalid.
They both equally invalidate each other.
As long as it's equal, I don't see any problem.
It's not like epic is the only misused word in the dictionary.
I think people who're bothered by the misuse of epic should just get over themselves and let us less intelligent people do epic stuff in peace.
Because if you did... Whoa.
I said "The misuse of the word is epic".
The point is that people can turn the meaning of a word to another meaning. If I said that swimming was... I don't know, "used-sock", it means it stinks, just like a sock that has been used.
it's like I always say 'bees and honey'=money and 'dog and bone'=phone and I ALWAYS say 'stop having a lamp at me you JOHN/JADE' which means 'stopping hitting me' and then John=boy Jade=Girl
Basically, people use words that are not necessary used in the English Dictionary in the same way, that doesn't they're speaking wrong.
I just don't approve of all slang terms.
Look up the word ‘awesome’ in the dictionary.
This is what I got.
Awesome [áwsəm]
adj
1. impressive and frightening: so impressive or overwhelming as to inspire a strong feeling of admiration or fear.
Eg) the awesome destructive power of a tornado
Does anyone remember the days when people used awesome in that context? Because I certainly don’t. Nowadays, awesome is used as a general term of enthusiastic approval. It seems that the same thing is happening to the word ‘epic’.
A beautiful thing about language is the way it changes and improves over time, like it’s keeping up with the human race. (Not the Kardashians -.-)
Anyway, I think this change should be embraced.
What I DON’T agree with, however, is the use of ‘gay’, ‘retarded’, and several other words I can’t be bothered mentioning as derogatory terms.
“Your Muse t-shirt looks really gay!” Says my friend who obviously doesn’t like Muse.
Wow, I didn’t know shirts, which are inanimate objects, even had a gender preference!
“And those shoes are so retarded.”
Thanks for informing me that my shoes are mentally inferior to yours. No wonder they only got 25 on their IQ test.
But this is an argument for another day...
