Trying is the first step, and thus the most important one IMO. Actually getting the good grades would be the next most important thing.

Indeed that's what truly would make you a good student. But what is most important of these things?

Today, the only thing that matters is grades! High Grades! It doesn't matter if you have studied hard or not, what matters is high grade! You'll be considered good student bt teachers, respected by fellow students and teased by friends for this! Teachers don't care if you studied whole day for test; actually they can't! If you fails in the test then you are not a good student in his eyes!!

Now that's a good arguement. ;)

in my school b4 i graduated if you put forth an effort && teachers saw you trying then they helped you pass && made it a lil easier on you regardless if you got good grades or not. there was this 1 guy i graduated with & he was really smart but he had horrible behavior && teachers disliked him && he always got into arguments with teachers even tho he was smart.

According to my school standards, this is what a good student is.
Students who get good grades are just students who get good grades, simple as that.
And besides, I think that teachers tend to put more pressure on students who get good grades rather than on regular students.
