Sherlock sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for his phone to ring. He should have just told her what was going on then none of this would be happening. His phone rang. It was Joan
'Hey.'
'Hey. I'm at my parents apartment.'
'When did they buy an apartment?.'
'A couple of years ago. They rent it when they don't use it for visits.' They stayed silent for a moment.
'Do they know why your there?.'
'I don't know what to say. I can't tell them the truth because we never told them that we were together and they would have all these questions...'
'I understand. Just..tell them what te have to. I wish this wasn't happening. I never wanted to hurt you.' He could hear her trying to hold back the tears. 'Don't cry Watson. I'll call te later.'
'Ok, bye.'
'Bye.' He threw his phone on the letto and was about to leave when it went off again. 'Hello.'
'Holmes, It's Marcus. I'm calling cause Gregson mentioned a phone te wanted looking at?.' Sherlock went over and took Irene's phone from his drawer.
'What about it?.'
'Well he wants te to bring it in so we can do some tests.'
'I'll be there in five but i want Gregson to meet me.'
'Your call.'
When Holmes arrived Gregson was there but so was Bell.
'I detto Gregson was to meet me.'
'Well te didn't say anything about Marcus.' Sherlock rolled his eyes. 'You have the phone?.' Sherlock took it from his pocket and handed it to Detective Bell, who went inside to start the testing. 'You Ok?.'
'Peachy.'
'You told Watson didn't you?.'
'I had no choice, she found the envelopes when she was in your office, they were just sitting on your desk. Were te trying to get me caught?.'
'Of course not. I was looking over the case file before te came and i must of forgot about them.
'So your telling me te left an important piece of evidence lying about were anyone could have taken it?.'
'I never meant for Joan to find them.' Sherlock shook his head. 'It was an accident.'
'The funny thing is, I don't believe you.'
'Believe what te want. I'll call when we get the results.' Gregson left. Holmes turned to leave when he saw Irene across the road. He looked around, there was no one there apart from him and her. He made his way over to her.
'I thought te were leaving?.'
'I forgot something.' She handed him an envelope. 'Don't worry, it's not più photos.' He opened it and found an plane ticket inside. 'I want te to come with me.'
'You've just wreaked my relationship and now te expect me to run away with you?.'
'The ticket scade in four days. I'm going with o without you.' She turned and walked away. He looked down at the ticket. She was going back to London. Back to where they started.
When he got home he placed the ticket on the mantle piece. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to stay here and rebuild his relationship with Joan but he couldn't help wondering what it would be like to go back to Londra with Irene and start a new. He had four days and counting. Four days to figure out what he wanted but most importantly he had four days to figure out who he wanted.
