After Swan Song, nothing can make me hate him. I keep telling myself it's not his fault that he doesn't have a soul. He can't account for his actions right now cuz he really doesn't know right from wrong. He did a very good thing, and I'll love him forever, but I'm so pissed, and not at him. Actually, I'm maddest at the writers who invented this storyline.

sam jumped into the pit and took an angel with him stopping the end of the world (with deans and the metallicars help) he didn't just die for dean he died for the whole freaking world and now he gets back and he doesn't have a soul...its like he and dean are cursed to live with one problem after another....and right now they deserve a break after sam swan dived into hell and dean had to let him...

@shomill that's how feel however the incident in live free or twihard still has me wary of sam because he is literally at his most dangerous while he's so unpredictable...however he doesn't have his internal moral compass to keep him from making horrible choices like that and it's not his fault. It's like he's being punished for saving the world.

I kinda like that even though he's not got a soul he's staying with Dean <3

Although I do have to disagree with you on one point. He does know right from wrong. He knows how he's supposed to feel when he does something wrong - because he knows that is wrong, it's just that the feelings that reinforce something being wrong or right are gone.

I think this is a really interesting story line. Although I do think it sucks that after he he was so heroic and found his redemption by sacrificing himself for the world, he comes back without a soul...it's also entirely in keeping with the Supernatural way of doing things. No good deed goes unpunished on this show. Look at Dean, sacrificing his life for Sam and what does he get? Hell. He's rescued from that by an angel and what does he get? Betrayal and nightmares. If Sam had come back with no problem, no consequences then it would've been pretty lame. This wouldn't be SPN unless there were some pretty nasty strings attached.

And this is something different, something new...it presents all kinds of interesting philosophical questions. Like what's motivating Sam now? If not his emotions? Pure logic? The vague remembrance of how he used to make decisions? Is he even human? That goddess said he wasn't.

And it provides Jared an opportunity to shine in the acting department. I've always said that he does dark and evil better than sweet and nice. And not that Soulless!Sam is evil exactly, but he's definitely treading the line. This story line lets Jared show off his skills while keeping Sam pure. Because he's not really Sam right now. So anything he does cannot be blamed on the real Sam.

Very true. And I completely agree, I think everyone could sense that something was off when they showed Sammy at the end of last season looking at Dean through the window. How had he come back? Was it really Sam? And now we know that it isn't really Sam at all, and of course that makes things so much more interesting. If he had just been brought back and been all fine and dandy it would have been boring and very uncharacteristic. I'm very glad they did it this way.

It annoys me most of the time, because I feel that the writers always want to make him look like the bad guy, even after Swan Song. But as much as it irritates me, I agree with fanfly, it wouldn't be that interesting if he came back and everything was okay.

I don't know I mean I'm a dean girl to the very end and even I can see that sam gets the big nasty crap dumped on me...i guess it just pisses me off a little

No..makes since that he would have to suffer somehow if was brought back after putting Lucy and Michael in the box again, he wasn't about to get out there without out a scratch, he is lucky is out at all

look i miss Sam too and - i wont things to be ok with Sam and Dean - i so miss the bro love - the hole i will die for you thing - but it did almost end the world - and Save it too / but they had to keep the story going - maybe this is them planing for another season - but evey one is pritty into this soul thing - when will he get back an how - some even like the bad ass thing - some are even mad that people are liking him be mean - i just wont to watch Sam Dean - kick ass - and watch the best show on tv
