Ian - I know I'm gonna get crap for this one. Yes he's sexy, yes he's good to look at, but guys... I can't be the only one who sees the need for improvement when it comes to acting! Or am I? Whatever, I think the boy needs some help.
Chace - I almost gave him the number three spot because he has improved but then I remembered he was at zero before. Not hard to go up from there.
Wentworth - He is atrocious. I could act better and that's really quite sad. I about fell out of my chair when I found out he was nominated for a Golden Globe back in the day. Are you effing kidding me?!
LMAO, but in all seriousness, if you want to see bad acting go to Disney channel. They make the people in Nick look like acting gods, and that is saying something haha.
Agree with you btw. I get all the girls jizz themselves with everything having to do with Ian and Damon, but the guy CAN NOT ACT. The retarded smile thing he does where everyone fangirls over, WTF? It looks like there is something wrong with him when he does it.
When he's Damon, he's entertaining and funny. He has great comedic timing, which may sound easy, but it's not. When Damon has to be upset or depressed, I believe it. There are heaps of actors that when they're upset, I don't believe it, because it's just so unconvincing. But when damon is upset in the show, I really believe it, people don't generally see guys balling their eyes out over just anything. So when Damon's upset and his eyes are red, and he's just completely vulnerable, and doesn't really do anything, doesn't want to feel it's so believable, because it's so realistic. Also, it has to be taken into account that Ian's character can turn his humanity off, like a switch he doesn't have to feel, so when he's heartbroken he just doesn't feel. I'm not saying he's the most brilliant actor in the world, and I'm not just saying he's great because he's hot and funny. He really is.
Ian really understands his character. When Ian's asked about his character Damon, he can answer the question well, he understands his floors, his weaknesses, what makes him implode. He knows everything about Damon, which as an actor means doing your job. As an actor you have to know your character better than anyone, of course the writer has to know them well as well, because they're their character, the actor needs to know everything about their character, so that when something happens they can react in character, to whatever it is. When he's asked a question about how Damon would respond to something he doesn't give some crappy answer about how you "can't understand him he's a vampire" he demonstrates how well he's done his job by giving a legitimate answer. He knows the layers of Damon and he knows that when Damon is joking lightly, and being funny, he's really in utter agony, he knows how Damon expresses himself, in the fact that Damon really doesn't express himself. He shuts out his vulnerability and humanity.
He was amazing in the scene of the season 2 premiere 'The Return', when Katherine told him she never loved him, the look on his face was pure agony, and I at that moment I really believed and understood how much he really loved her, and how much it hurt him to have his entire existence, the reason he got out of bed everyday, desert and reject him.
Damon is one of my favorite TV characters, and I believe that Ian does a really great job of portraying him. I don't believe that he's the best actor out there, but he's definitely not the worst. I mean, I've seen enough bad acting around to know when it's really bad. Of course I do, I've seen Twilight. I know that the best actors out there are Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Leighton Meester, Ellen Pompeo, Hugh Laurie. I know they're truly amazing. But I also know that Ian Somerhalder is not bad, not at all, he's really quite brilliant. The way he portrays his character is brilliant. He understands him, and he knows how Damon would react to things. It's how much the actor understands and portrays their character, that's how you judge their acting, if you hate a character, you can't just say that they're a bad actor because you hate the character. Ian Somerhalder can act, and he's really quite amazing.
Crazychlo agrees ^ -Just in case you don't make it in time Chloe-

Took the words out of my mouth :D
I'm thrilled that he can answer questions about his character, I really am, but I'm going off of what I see. I have eyes and a brain and they are telling me he sucks.
Haha, So okay. I'm a Huge Ian fan but I kinda agree with that =)) Everyone have their own opinion, about who is good at stuff and who isn't. Not like anyone would change their mind just because of a long piece of writing =)) If Ian doesn't please you than we can't change that LOL I respect-ish everyone opinion
Well Lucy I don't know if it Lost-Ian that you watch or VD-Ian that you watch. But I think talented people can't be good at everything. Ian is FANTASTIC as playing a bad vampire. Maybe it's because he has great lines and action and storyline.
Chace and Wentworth are hot. Nuff said !
and i only saw prison break once, wentworth was ok....
sereiously ??? and he deserved to be nominated for a Golden Globe..THANK GOD there are people out there that see his talent..
As for Ian..I so disagree with you ! he is so great as Damon.. Ian does a really great job of portraying him..AND you can't really deny the fact that so many fans watch TVD becasue of Ian and believe me I am not one of these fan girls who goes crazy about him just because of his look but I believe his acting skills are also great and he has got the sexy look so what else would it be there ?
As for chace I may agree with you but may be because of his character Nate..
I honestly think you haven't really seen Prison Break to begin with...
I am kind of Going Crazy to think that sb say Wentworth Miller is one of the worst actors !! the guy is Genius in his role as Scofield, otherwise he will not be nominated..don't u think that ?! I am not even gonna argue with you about this anymore ....
"I about fell out of my chair when I found out he was nominated for a Golden Globe back in the day. Are you effing kidding me?! "
and yeah they are not kidding you..you should open your eyes and see for yourself how talented he is ! He carried the show his self and the success of the show was thank to him and his portrayal that you didn't really like for I don't know some reasons maybe because you didn't find him hot or sth I am not sure becasue you know your priority of loving the acting of the actor that you should first find him hot then you will decided...
What is the problem? I've tried to not bash these actors in here, I just don't think they are great. I'm not asking everyone to agree with me but I'm going to defend what I feel.
I don't think Ian is a good actor. People watch TVD just for him?.... People watch Twilight just for Robert Pattinson, should he be dusting off his shelf and awaiting his Oscar?
I honestly think you haven't really seen Prison Break to begin with...
You caught me! I haven't even watched Prison Break, I just randomly picked an actor I assumed would be terrible. That must be it...OR I have watched Prison Break up until the second season when I quit watching it because I couldn't stand to watch the acting for one more episode.
you know your priority of loving the acting of the actor that you should first find him hot then you will decided...
Give. Me. A. BREAK.
Has it every occurred to you that I find the actors I love hot because they are talented, and NOT the other way around? There is a reason I prefer Jack Shepard over Boone Carlyle. Matthew Fox can actually act.
For the record you don't know anything about what I really like. Yes here on fanpop you're going to see me loving on Chuck Bass and not talking about the moving performances given by Forest Whitaker because that is the nature of this site. You really want to know who my favorite actor of all time is? It's Russell Crowe. Is that because he's the most gorgeous man alive? No, it's because he's an amazing actor so please just spare me and don't act like I know nothing.
^ clm-anamoly totally agrees with me. What does that matter? I'm not sure.
you see your point here ? I admitt Matthew Fox is an amazing actor but for me I see Wentworth Miller is better than Ed, but he is tied for me with Matthew...and why would you watch the whole first season if you find the main actor of the show can't act!! If I were you, I would watch only one episode and then I would stop watching..! becasue the whole show is mainly about Michael Scofield !! and why is the show received so many positive reviews, and performed well in the ratings in the first place if the main actor is atrocious as you say ??? and I almost fell out of my chair laughing When I read this sentence "I could act better and that's really quite sad." LMFAO ! anyway that is just your opinion and obviously not so many fans agree with you about Wentworth and Ian...the only thing I could agree with you in this point is Chace...
sorry for this but you know Wentworth Miller has been my firt crush in TV and that must be sth for me when I see sb say that he can't act and BTW I have been a fan of him since 2005 and I have never seen anyone say that he can't act and you know the worst part is? that you compared him with Chace 0_o
So before, it was I hadn't even seen Prison Break so I'm not a valid judge, and now I've seen too much? LMAO
Look, I don't know what you want me to say. I don't like him as an actor. That's not going to change. lol
no need to like him..and AGAIN thank GOD no one obviously agrees with you about his acting skills..and thank you I stole the icon..I know you didn't make it but thank you anyway
Preach.
give him a joker role if there's a batman comedy show... so that he will be using that smile throughout the whole show....
