Because Adam & Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden ALL creation (including turkeys) are now fallen beings in a fallen world. Satan prowls about like a wild beast, looking for someone to devour. And people being cruel to turkeys makes him very gleeful. But it does not make Me happy at all. Then humans resorted to 'selective breeding' - in your case because they (being fallen) couldn't see you as anything besides FOOOOD. They wanted you to be more FOOOD and less bird.
