At a 2016 Tribeca Film Festival panel in April, series star Julianna Margulies admitted that she and her character, Alicia Florrick, are “exhausted” after dealing with everything from infidelity and NSA surveillance to the death of a romantic interest over 156 episodes. Showrunner Robert King added: “It felt like a show that you had to end… It didn’t feel like a show that you could keep having crazy things happen to you. At a certain point, you escape the realm of probability.” Though fans might have a tough time bidding Florrick farewell during the finale episode, critics have indicated — to the tune of a 100 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes — the series is tapping out on a high note.
