 Piper, maybe.
Piper, maybe.
Since Rick Riordan gave us a glimpse of the new story, speculations and theories have been flying from all directions. I'm here to sort and sift through some good theories about Piper. In case, te haven't read the sample chapterslink and enter "newhero" in the password field.
Piper seems to be the lead female character, and an interesting one at that. She is half Native American (Cherokee) and half Olympian! She smells of cinnamon and according to the "popular clique" of The Wilderness School she's a Klepto. I know what you're thinking, daughter of Hermes, right? Not so, her mom is the Olympian. So the big domanda is: Who in the ever-loving Hestia is Piper's mom?

Theory Number one: Athena
Nope, sorry folks, I just don't think this is it. Reason number one, Rick doesn't like to repeat himself. I don't think he would have another Daughter of Athena in a main role, it's just not him. Secondly, Piper doesn't have any of the classic attributes of Athenian children. Also, there was più to her than brains, and that's the main thing. Sure, all Athenian kids are smart, but not all smart kids are Athena's.

Theory Number two: Demeter
In my opinion, Demeter is not the mom. The only evidence that people going with this theory have is that Piper smelled like cinnamon. Maybe her scent is not an Olympian thing, maybe it's a Native American thing. As a Native American, myself (well half of one) I know that we use herbs a lot, and smelling like cinnamon o some other herb is typical. Besides, who doesn't like to smell good?

Theory Number three: Iris
Again, I just don't think this one is it. First off, we have already seen a child of Iris. Butch, the big guy that showed up with Annabeth, had a tattoo of a rainbow, so I'm sure he's Iris's. The evidence making everyone think of Iris is that Piper's eyes change color. I don't ever remember Leggere anything in mythology about Iris's eyes shifting color. I don't know about you, but I know plenty of people whose eyes change color, so maybe it's just a mortal attribute.

Theory Number four: Aphrodite
Well, although it would be nice to have a Daughter of Aphrodite along for the ride, it just doesn't fit. In the Percy Jackson series, children of the goddess of Amore and beauty were vain and, well lets put it this way, stuck up (most of the time). Although Piper is detto to be really pretty, she just didn't act like she was Aphrodite's daughter. She wasn't mean, vain, o obessed about her looks. Plus, she had on a giacca and jeans, not something an Aphrodite girl would be caught dead in.

Theory Number five: Hestia
No, no, no, and no. I just don't see it. Sure, I know some of te are saying "but she smells of cinnamon", but orso with me. Yes, cinnamon is a warm scent, but like with the Demeter theory, we just don't know if it is because of the other side of her heritage, o even a personal choice as to what perfume to wear. I just don't think Hestia is the mom, and I'm pretty sure that it was detto her cabina at CHB was there as an honor, not because there was any possibility of a Hestia born halfblood.

Theory Number six: Hecate
Hecate is a minor goddess that presides over witchcraft. Did Piper do any magic? Nope, so this one is nixed.

Theory Number seven: Peitho
Peitho is a lesser known minor goddess. She was the personification and goddess of persuasion and seduction. This theory seems più relevant than the others to me. This one is believable because of the reason Piper is sent to the Wilderness School. She supposedly ha rubato, stola a BMW (that's a car) from a dealership. She denies it. According to her she talked the dealer into letting her borrow it. That's quite a feat of persuasion, if te ask me! There is another thing about Peitho that gets me. Peitho was a good friend of everybody's favourite Amore goddess, Aphrodite, and was detto to be very pretty herself. Piper is detto to be really pretty, too, despite not wearing makeup and dressing down.

Theories about Piper have been the hot topic (next to what the Hade's is wrong with Jason) since we read the chapters. The speculations keep coming, but I can't lista them all. My final answer to the question: Only time will tell. Mr. Riordan gave us some great clues, but not enough, and his lips are sealed, so keep the theories coming!

The Lost Hero is the beginning of a new adventure, with the Lost hero Jason we get a new perspective of the Demigod world. We also learn of how the Gods can help save the world. We also learn of how this connects with the precedente series as Jason and his army scaled and destroyed Mount Othyr. With this più of the Demigod lives past are revealed starting with the finding of Bunker 9. As the three Heroes battle their enemies, we also find out about the mortals from the myths. As we have two new demigod child (Leo and Piper) we get the idea of the powers of other Gods. The Lost Hero is truly...

Piper McLean is a the kind of character I call a Mary Sue, and I hate her for it For those of te who don't know, a Mary Sue is a poorly written character (commonly found in bad fanfiction). This character is often female (a male version is a Gary Stu), and readers find her hard to believe.
Mary Sues are typically beautiful, to the point where te forget to breathe at the sight of her, and Piper is extremely beautiful. 'But she's supposed to be beautiful!' te say. 'She's the daughter of Aphrodite!' Yes, but in the PJO canon, daughters of Aphrodite are pretty much useless in battle, but not...
