Eighteen-year-old Tammy Lynn Leppert was last seen on July 6, 1983 in Rockledge, Florida.

Background
Tammy worked as a model and actress; she had bit roles in films such as "Scarface" and "Spring Break". After completing the shoot for "Spring Break", Tammy went to a party by herself one weekend. According to her friend, Wing Flannagan, she came home from the party "a different person".

After she performed her role in "Scarface", Tammy returned home suddenly after the fourth day of filming. On June 1, 1983, Tammy began behaving erratically which prompted her mother, Linda Curtis to take her to a mental health center for a 72-hour observation. According to the doctors, there were no signs of drug or alcohol use. Tammy was later released from the mental health center and Linda planned to find a therapist for her daughter.

Disappearance
On July 6, 1983, Tammy left her family's home with a 20-year-old male friend. She said she was going to the beach and would return a little while; however, she never came home. Tammy's friend later told the police that they had an argument while driving and he left Tammy standing in a parking lot outside of the Glas Bank near an Exxon gas station in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Investigators looked into the possibility that Tammy was the victim of serial killer Christopher Wilder. Wilder was killed by the police during a shootout in 1984. Before Wilder's death, Tammy's family filed a $1 million lawsuit against him, but dropped the suit afterwards. Linda stated that she never believed that Wilder was connected to Tammy's disappearance.

Another person, John Brennan Crutchley (also known as the Vampire Rapist) was considered a suspect in Tammy's case, but the police have been unable to connect him to her case. Crutchley was sentenced to life in prison in 1986 for the kidnapping and rape of a woman in Orlando, Florida.

Linda believed that Tammy may have been kidnapped and killed due to her knowledge of a large-scale drug and money laundering operation in Brevard, Florida. Because of what she knew about the drug and money laundering operation, Tammy was reportedly afraid for her life, stayed in her bedroom more than usual and refused to drink from open containers or eat from her own plate. Linda claimed that Tammy made a police report about what she knew about the drug and money laundering operation, but the authorities have no record of the report.

Tammy's case is classified as an endangered missing person. Linda died in 1995, but Tammy's sister is still searching for her.
