Chapter 21
sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza is an illusion to Daredevil’s and Murderer’s
“I haven’t told the other’s,” America tells me. “But I’m texting them right now.”
I nod. “But first we have to get my mother and sister, oh and I still kind of need to eat.”
“No problem, Cibo and family first, then we’ll meet up later with the guys.”
“Thanks for being here, o at least still being here.”
“That’s what Friends are for, Zy, te know, I Amore your real name, it’s such a lovely name.”
I laugh. “Thanks.”
“Alright, let’s get te filled with food.” America helps lift me up and we go back into the direction whence we came. Being able to talk about anything and everything, it was really nice being me, Zyanna, without being judged at all.
After we had a very delicious and free meal, we headed back to the room, on the way I told America what my mother told me, and what had happened before.
“So your basically one part of a whole dysfunctional family,” America detto at the end of it all. “So much for te being the fresh meat.”
I smiled, and elbowed her. “That’s right.”
I opened the door to the room, Bellaire was on the divano flipping through channels. In the corner of my eye could see America study her, stil trying to see if all this is real, but if there was perfect confirmation, Bellaire would be one of them.
I closed the door making sure it made a loud shut, Bellaire turned towards the door, but she froze when she saw America. They just stared at each other.
I cleared my throat. “Someone sent her text with all the files, I’m thinking it’s father.”
“A text?” Bellaire asked, looking confused. “I didn’t even know most parents knew how, can I see?”
America reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, “it was sent to me while we were still searching the house, I didn’t know what to do so I left them there and went here.”
“You left them?” I ask, horrified. “But what if whoever sent that text wanted te to leave?”
Bellaire stood up, still looking at the phone. “Then let’s go, I’ll figer it out.”
We both looked at her blankly. “Figer?”
“That’s the part te question,” Bellaire laughed. “Come on, let’s go!”
No need to tell us twice, Bellaire left note on the divano and we ran out of Corrabines Estate, we went to America’s car, o her mom’s car.
“I ha rubato, stola it, real early when mom was still sleeping. She’ll be mad because she missed work, but hey, I can take her wrath anyday.” America lifter her shoulder in a shrug.
America took the wheel, why Bellaire and I went in the back, trying not to look too suspicious. Bellaire’s finger’s flew on the keyboard of the phone, she sighed, irritated.
“Something wrong?” America asked from the front.
“Whoever sent this used a disposable phone, or…I don’t know a phone they just brought but put nothing on it. I can’t locate the phone.”
America sped up the car, our thoughts as one as we realized that the phone was probably somewhere in the ocean da now.
When we reached remotely close to the house, America parked the car and turned towards us. “What now?”
“I,” Bellaire stated. “Am going to call the police, if nothing’s wrong, then the police will find your files on the phone, and we’ll mostra them the flash drive.”
“In the mean time, America and I will go check the house,” I say, getting out the car. “Be careful, and if something bad happens, um…run.”
“The best runner in track team, you?” Bellaire asked.
“Father taught me how to shoot a gun, and coltello someone,” I say, flashing a grin.
“Then we’ll all be fine,” America says, grinning. “See te later look-a-almost-like.”
“See te later red-dyed-hair.” Bellaire replied back, grinning just as wide. “Good luck sis.”
“Love te sis,” I say as she blows me a baciare and makes a cuore shaped hand. We leave and walk towards the house.
“The final showdown,” I whisper as I stare at the house, and America nods.
Each step leading us closer to a house where anything can happen.
Chapter 22
Knives are as sharp as words
The house stood firmly in place, looking like it did every night, but this time there was something più sinister about it, something that made my skin crawl.
I knew I didn’t like that house.
It was eerily quiet, and the whole neighborhood (not that there was much of it) was dark. No lights were on, not in houses o in lamps.
“It’s like a ghost town,” America says, shuddering in the cold.
I nod, studying the neighborhood, looking for any signs of life. I feel my cuore beat as I take a deep breath and walk slowly towards the door.
But I pause in the act, because I could’ve sworn I saw a shadowing moving. I back up and take another deep breath. Then I quickly look to our neighbors lawn, I see the bat that there five anno old son Richie never learned to put away.
America sees my gaze, and then goes to get it, she hands it to me. And then we approach the intimidating door. America behind me gripping my back as I reach for the door knob.
The door creaks open with no protest, and the house is deathly silent.
I walk forward, America at my heels. The inside looks più sinister than the outside. We inch inoltrare, avanti looking both ways, but of course, we never look back. Which is why we were startled to hear the door close around us, we whipped around.
“Azerien?” I ask, as he closes the door, it’s still to dark to tell.
“It’s me,” he risposte hoarsely as he turns on the light. He looks like a frightened child that was just caught. “I didn’t know what else to do.”
“What are te talking about?” America pipes up.
“It was the only thing,” he stops abruptly and falls to his knees.
“Azerien!” I cry, I don’t care if it’s a trap. I run to him as I touch his stomach to see if he’s breathing, I wrench it back in horror after feeling the warm substance, and my hand was covered in dark red.
Blood.
“No, no, no, no!” I yell, I take off my giacca and avvolgere it around his torso, making sure it’s pressurized.
“I should’ve stayed here with you, Zy, te were right. Were just his sacrifices.”
“Azerien!”
“Hello, 911, my name is America and were in a house on Darwyn street, a friend of mine is bleeding very hard, and my other Friends are in danger. Please hurry!” America yells into the phone.
“Don’t worry,” Azerien says. “I’m fine.”
I start to cry, I open my mouth to say something but someone beats me to it, o più like screams me to it.
I turn and see America fighting off father, who now has her in a death grip, his arms circling her neck.
“Save her, sis, I’ll be fine.” Azerien tells me taking my hand and baciare it.
I baciare his cheek as I run towards father, I jump on superiore, in alto of him and put my own around his neck he struggles, still choking America, but then he let’s go of her as he trys to use his finger’s to pry off my arms.
Feeling courageous, I lean back as far as I can, father not paying leans back with me and we both fall on the floor. My back aches but I barely notice as I stand up and America grabs my bat and pushes it into his stomach, keeping him there.
I rush to Azerien to make sure he’s okay, he nods. I run back to America’s side. “Where are our friends?”
Father laughs although it’s painful because of the bat. I could tell we aren’t getting anywhere, and so does America because she says, “you go check.”
“Are te sure?”
“Yeah,” she gives me a small smile. “I’ll be fine.”
I nod and race up the steps, I check rooms nothing’s in there, except for mine, which I saved for last. When I opened up the door I saw all my Friends tied up together. They looked startled and scared to see me, and I held my hands in my mouth, but no time to stall now.
I go to Gregori and untie the thing around his mouth, he peaks as soon as it’s off. “Don’t kill us, please.”
“What are te talking about, I’ve come to save you?”
“You were the one who tied us,” Gregori tells me. “I saw you.”
“But-”
“I think they’ve mistaken us,” a familiar voice says from the door. I close my eyes. “Why?”
“Because he’s our father, Zy. I’ve never ever had my father actually care. What was I supposed to do?” Bellaire says.
“He’s playing te Bell, were just pawns, we don’t matter to him.”
“It’s because te were weak,” she states.
“He stabbed his own son, he killed his own parents, and he’s telling his daughter to kill her own sister.” I say looking at the sharp coltello glinting in the moonlight.
“I Amore him, Zy,” Bellaire says, her whole body shaking with silent sobs.
“I Amore him, too.”
“He detto we can be a whole family again, and he threatened me, Zy, I don’t know what to do,” Bellaire says.
“Don’t kill,” I tell her. “Or you’ll become a monster just as he.”
Bellaire starts sobbing hard, “b-b-but I can’t lose my father a-a-again Zy.”
“I know it’s hard, but look at what I’ve been through with just living with him. In all the years of us being a family, he’s willing to kill us, don’t te think he’d be willing to kill te too.”
Bellaire sobs. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” she inches towards me.
“Please don’t!” I yell, feeling my own sobs take me. “He’s just using you, he’ll probably kill te two and take Sebastain.”
Bellaire blinks. “Sebastain?”
“Yes, because he thinks women are the weakest spicies. Bellaire, listen to me, if te drop that coltello we can be a family, you, me, Azerien, and mother. te won’t live a life with a guy wih some serious temper issues. Please?”
Bellaire breaks as she nods, “okay, I will.” As soon as she drops the coltello she lets out a wail of pain and falls to her knees. At first I thought she was just crying but then as she falls another person is visible, holding what I think is a stun gun…or maybe a real one. The person pulls out a coltello and inches towards me. “She was always weak when it came to family.”
“No! No! Please!” I sob.
“I knew she wouldn’t be able to do it, guess it’s always in my hands, huh?”
I try to inch away, but then I hit a wall.
“Trapped,” they throw there head back and laugh. “You kids were always so weak, all te needed was some useless words and we had you.”
My cuore felt like it was thrown around, betrayal so hard stung threw me, Azerien and Bellaire did what they did because they felt obligated too, they loved father.
But this wasn’t for that, it was for a whole different reason.
“How can te do this?”
They don’t answer they just step up real close to me, and give me a cruel smile and then…
The coltello plunges into my stomach, so deep and painful. I’ve never felt anything so harsh, I let out a deep breath. I can hear my Friends screaming, but it’s mostly drowned out da the frantic beating of my heart, I see my blood, I see red, I see death.
“Good night, my angel.” My mom whispers before pulling the coltello back and stabbing me again.

I stood da you,
Ever so proudly,
In the darkness of war,
Never betraying you,
Always da your side.
I protected you,
Never let te down when
Things got rough,
I stood da you
Through giorno and night,
Summer and winter.
Stand da me now,
Be my loyal friend,
Never falter when the Fuhrer
Shoots his nasty gaze down at you.
Be strong,
My faithful friend.
Be strong,
And protect me from the evils
Of the world.
Be strong,
Never falter,
And always have courage.
Go now, my faithful friend.
Run free.
Ever so proudly,
In the darkness of war,
Never betraying you,
Always da your side.
I protected you,
Never let te down when
Things got rough,
I stood da you
Through giorno and night,
Summer and winter.

Run free.
Like te don't have another care

Cuz te got all ya power.
Fight like a trooper.
You've got hope
You've got strength
You've got Amore on ya side,

Just fight now.
Fight till the end,
You've got all these people
Rootin for ya,
Rootin for ya.
You'll win the fight,

Cuz te fought till the end,
And won it,

Now that te left me....
My soul is crying
Out to the world
Above me.
Now that te left me....
I couldn't figure out
How to go on with life
And I stayed right on....
With my despair.
Now that te left me....
te broke my heart,
And now it's covered in broken glass,
Oh broken glass......
It's time to sposta on now...
But I can't help feeling the tragedy
Of that lonesome night...
How the world jeered at me.
The world hurt me.
There's no più hope left,
So face the truth.
I am a piece of broken glass,
Shimmering in the dark and dreary night
My cuore broke
When it felt like the end of the world...
And boy, was it the end of the world.
I was broken glass,
And nobody seemed to care about me.
I am broken glass.
I am heartbroken.
I am...
No more.
My soul is crying
Out to the world
Above me.
Now that te left me....
I couldn't figure out
How to go on with life
And I stayed right on....
With my despair.
Now that te left me....
