Chapter 1: Secrets Should Be Kept sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza from Prying Eyes Like Mine
Lauren Knight, Sidney Stone, Faye Martinez, and Simone Rivers crept quietly up the stairs towards the attic of Simone's glamour house. Mr. and Mrs. Rivers were sound asleep in their king sized letto probably dreaming about their jobs. That is what they usually do when they are awake. Brooke Rivers was out partying with her Friends so they had no one to worry about. Brooke being the eldest, she could do whatever she pleased whenever she pleased. Her sister Simone was annoyed da that. It was around midnight so all of the girls wore their rosa o yellow pajamas and the cute slippers with the heads of various animals. They were più quiet in their pajamas then they would have been in regular clothes. They were grateful for that. They had to be quiet. They weren't suppose to be up and they definitely were not suppose to be going in the attic.
Simone's blonde hair was tied in a tight ponytail using her Sister's preferito white scrunchy. She usually had her hair like that when she was nervous o thinking hard. She had a good reason to be nervous. She and her Friends were not allowed to be up there. The attic was strictly off limits but unfortunately Simone had to learn that the hard way. The last time Simone went into the attic her father went ballistic to a point where he had a vain popping out of his neck. Her mother was crying hysterically and looking anywhere but at Simone. That did hurt Simone's feelings. Her father, on the other hand, was really angry with her. The little vain, she now calls Hilton, was stick pocking out. He asked if she had seen anything, she lied and detto no. What exactly was she suppose to say? She feared the worst if she had detto yes. He appeared satisfied with the answer and he sent her to her room for the rest of the week. Which wasn't much of a punishment since she had a plasma screen, toys, and all the latest electronics stored in her room.
Since it was winter break, the girls planned on staying at each other's houses. It was something they had all agreed upon. They desired to have the best winter break possible unlike last year. Last anno had to be the worst winter break possible. guinness World Records almost decided to put it in successivo year's book. Last anno it was snowed for most of the break. It never snows in Brunswick. Brunswick is located da the Gulf Stream which sends off heat in their direction. It also explains why Florida is always so hot anno round. The snow was so bad that they couldn't get any Natale shopping done o call each other since the phones apparently didn't pick up service during a blizzard. They vowed to never let that happen again and they are girls that stick to their promises. They could not handle being stuck for 3 weeks with their families and without a friend to cheer them up.
The last few steps leading to the attic door were insanely squeaky. Lauren was the one making the most noise. She ha to be the clumsiest girl in the bunch. No matter how hard she tried, the wood would not be silenced. She just had to deal with the noise and pray that no one would wake up. When they finally reached the attic door, each girl easily slipped through the rotting wood which claimed to be a door. What they saw made their jaws fall straight through the wooden floors which was possible. The floors were already rotted though and various holes were scattered everywhere.
The attic wasn't very big. Just a regular room. It had a mysterious vibe that they a felt while they were up there. The only light was very dim and came from the circular window. It showed a wisp of the moon and the light it radiated. No one had thought to bring a flashlight. The attic had cardboard boxes stacked against the bacheca and a few in the middle of the room. All of the boxes were marked MEMORIES o FRAGILE. Cobwebs covered every inch of the room. It even covered the boxes as if the boxes were entwined with each other in spidery webs. Bugs crawled everywhere making the room bug infested. Sidney was screaming her head off in her mind but her eyes gave away that she was truly frightened. She was the easiest to scare but sometimes she could pull off the best revenge pranks. She was horrified da all of it. It felt just like a horror movie but with più bugs.
After standing there observing the room that hasn't been of any use for anyone besides storage, the girls set off to work. Each girl took a small fraction of the room. Simone took the left corner were there was less boxes and più dusty books. Lauren went where the most bugs were. This was just a challenge for her because she was the Ribelle - The Brave one and she would constantly remind them every time. The Ribelle - The Brave part was that she was truly spooked of bugs like Sidney but she had to maintain her reputation. Lauren wasn't as terrified da them luke Sidney. Sidney took the right corner near the door while Faye went to the last area available. Faye wasn't all that into searching through an old man's memories. She wanted nothing più but to read a book on sports. She liked spending her time either practicing o playing a sport.
"This stuff must belong to your mom, Simone." Sidney stood up wearing a red feathery boa around her neck. She smiled large and proud while waving the boa around the room. Various feathers popped off of the boa. She posed like she was in front of a camera at the Grammys. Everyone giggled at her silly impression of their preferito stars. "But wait there's more!" She bent over a nearby box and pulled out bright rosa platform shoes. They were too huge for her small feet, but she still tried them on. She wobbled a bit as she tried to strut to Lauren. "How do I look Lauren?"
Lauren was eager to leave the bug station. She balled her hand into a fist and pretended it was a microphone. She held it up towards her mouth. "Absolutely darling Sid! Oh where, oh where, did te find those shoes?" Lauren did her impression of the annoying reporters that were always stalking the celebrities. She made her voice high but loud.
"Oh Lauren, darling, I got them outback," Sidney replied in her snotty voice which sounded a lot like Cameron Diaz.
"Australia?" asked Lauren. She moved her fist-mic closer to Sidney.
"No the garbage," retorted Sidney. Everyone burst with laughter which was followed da loud shushing coming from Simone. It was impossible to be silent when they were all together. They were like a big ball of fun.
It was silent once more. The small, circular window in the attic still showed a tiny wisp of light. It was a peaceful night but the girls continued their back breaking quest. The girls peered through what seemed liked thousands of boxes filled with old foto o smelly gym socks. They soon Lost track of time but the footsteps coming from the stairs reminded them where they were, inside the forbidden attic. The attic that they have been told all of their lives to stay away from. They would surely be in trouble if caught. Faye was startled when she heard the footsteps. She warned the others and they tried looking for places to hide. Going back the way they came was out. The only thing they could use to hide with was the cardboard boxes covered with dirt. They each found a giant box and concealed themselves inside of it.
It was cramped inside the boxes. The aroma wasn't all that flattering either. It smelled like rotten eggs like mese old rotten eggs. It wasn't the most exciting place to hide but it hid them. Their boxes already had other things stored inside them. Faye was smushed with old pictures that looked like a burning schools and sad faces. Lauren was with clothing that seemed to belong to a child and toys. Simone and Sidney's boxes were completely empty but the smell was still there so they all suffered.
The door creaked open. The footsteps were heavier as they got farther from the door. It was hard to distinguish who was at the door. It could have been anybody. The person came inside and shifted the boxes around, probably looking for something, hopefully not 4 girls. The person dumped a big box onto the floor that was right beside Lauren. It made a piercing thud while Lauren winced. Obviously, whoever was there, wasn't trying to be quiet. They probably didn't have to worry about waking Simone's parents o the neighborhood. After awhile the person left, slamming the door behind them and taking their loud footsteps somewhere else.
"That was so close," Lauren huffed. She climbed out her box with a few webs and dust in her hair. She tried wiping the dust out of her dark brown hair but it was pretty hard especially since she couldn't see where the dust was. Her dimples, that were usually on each side of her cheek, weren't there which meant she was melancholy. Lauren was always the one giggling and cracking jokes. She has a natural talent for her to make friends. It was rare to see her not laughing of joking. te could tell she was out of her mind frightened just da looking at her expression. "We should go now, Simone," she detto as she grimaced at the web she recently tugged from her hair.
"Are te seriously going to let that scare you?" Simone raised one eyebrow as if they dared to defy her. She was like a little pitbull, just so vicious sometimes. She was più like a Queen to them so anything she disapproved of they would disapprove of it too.
"Come on, Simone. I don't want to get in trouble. We should just go and come back tomorrow," Faye reasoned. She folded her arms around her chest and tried to look as powerful as Simone but no one could match to Simone Rivers' attitude. It took years of practice to make an attitude similar to Simone's own.
"Tomorrow we will be at Sidney's house. Besides, the girls I knew wouldn't give up that easily." Simone was doing it again. She has this unnatural way of persuading people to do whatever she wants. Her dad always detto she go into politics. She was very charismatic especially if she wanted something. Her Friends felt lame for backing out. They were frightened but più so of Simone then the creepy person that left the attic. Simone had her own intentions. She wanted to find what she saw the last time she was up here. The book. That oh so special book.
"Sorry," they mumbled. All of them went right back to digging. They took their sweet time saying sorry but in the end, what were they suppose to do if Simone wanted things to go her way. Saying no would be like saying no to the president. They just didn't have the guts.
No one detto a word for the rest of the time there. Lauren was più interested in bugs then looking through dusty boxes. She was especially happy that the bugs didn't try to bite her. They were still creepy to look at. Sidney and Faye were playing poker with some cards Faye found in one of the boxes. Sidney had to teach Faye how to play poker but Fate learned quick. As for Simone, she found exactly what she was looking for. The little red yearbook she saw last time. It still read GLYNN ACADEMY YEARBOOK '84. This was the key to finding out the truth. It was just something she had to keep to herself for now. She would be pounded with unlimited domande if the girls found out about her and the book.
It was around 3am when they finally left the attic and went back to Simone's room to sleep. Everyone had droopy eyes and were yawning all the way to the room. Simone took pride in her discovery. This could most likely change the way the girls think of her. She wouldn't be just the pretty face anymore. As of today she would be the pretty face and the clever girl to figure this big mystery they had in the family. Only Simone could think that she could be the leader and a terrific best friend at the same time.
As they settled down for the night, Simone dreamt of all of the cool things she would discover. Including her Friends was still something she was deciding on. They were weak compared to her but they were still the closest thing she had to a sister, not counting Brooke. As she rested her eyelids the last thing she thought of was the person who was in the attic. Who could possibly be up that early in the morning?

Because I'm too lazy to type it again. :P I wrote this poem because I just graduated a school and it's really sad, and I do not like the idea of leaving all of my friends. I know that there are a few that I'll never see again. So I kind of vented about it through this poem. I hope it's good. Hgfan5602 is such an inspiration, so this is pretty much dedicated to them. I've always stunk at poems, and I haven't written one in ages, so I hope this will suffice as a decent piece of poetry.
