technically Jacob didn't fall in love with Renesmee. Throughout the books when 'imprinting' was explained, Bella constantly saw it as between lovers, so when Quin imprinted on whoeveritwas she was disgusted. She thought it was really off because after all, it's pedophilia to fall for a child. Jake explained that it isn;t like that. They aren't in love, they act like uncle and nephew, it just so happens that the uncle considers the nephew the whole world to him. Jake said the person who imprints will feel towards the one imprinted whatever the later needs at that time: if she is a baby the imprinter will be the carer: if they are a child he will be a friend; if they are of a similar age they will be lovers. Just because of the imprinting it doesn't mean Jake's in love with Renesmee, it just erases the love he felt for Bella.

I thought it was good for him. The imprinting anyway, and when I thought about it further...
Jacob was having a really hard time knowing that Bella had married Edward, and would become a vampire in a matter of time. He was suffering. But when he imprinted, he became happy. And that is something I really wanted him to be :)
So, he imprinted on Renesmee, making it possible for him to stay friends with Bella, keeping her in his life, without wanting more, the way it started out, and the way everybody's happy.
Not to mention the benefits it had when they wanted to kill "it", and then when the Volturi came xD

Imprinting on young girls doesn't literally mean love at first sight okay? Jake said it was like gravity moves. He's still an older bro figure to Nessie but when she grows up, Nessie will definitely pick Jake over tons of other guys!!

Yes It was super creepy and I was so mad when I got to that part in Breaking Dawn. I hate Jacob so much and wish he did not imprint with Renesmee.
