Why does everyone like these books? They are TERRIBLY written

Well, I agree with you, they're not really well written and the story is sometimes too predictable.
Nevertheless, te should understand that most people don't really care for the Scrivere but for the story itself and the story is entertaining, misterious and funny sometimes.
In any case, Stephenie Meyer used a lot of the ancient vampire myths to create these new improved modern Vampiri#From Dracula to Buffy... and all creatures of the night in between. that we see in Twilight now. That is, in my opinion, the most appealing side of these books.
The fact that it includes a Amore story between someone perfectly normal (Bella) that we can all in certain levels relate to and a supposedly perfect in any ways vampire (Edward) is certainly what made a lot of people read these books.
The perfect Amore between these too, that is so bad it is good, is what keeps almost everyone hooked with this story. We see all this world through Bella's eyes, which is also the reason why we don't really see Edward's imperfections, and we can relate to her story because she's normal, she lives in a normal place, she has normal Friends until something unusual happens to her, which could happen to all of us.
So I guess that those are the reasons why most people Amore Twilight even though, in my opinion, it is terribly written, like te said.

First off, I'd like to say that I absolutely HATE it when people put things like this on a Twilight fansite. Notice the byline: "A fanspot of the libri Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn." This is not an appropriate domanda for this spot.

Secondly, I loved the libri più than anything I've ever read, and this guestion's answer, to me, seems very obvious. I know it might not be that way to others.

Then why are te on this channel? Twilight is a great book and Stepenie Meyer is a great author.

I teach English Lit, and every time one of my students makes a bold statement like this one, "terribly written," I always ask them to support their argument with evidence.

What do te mean da that exactly? If it is because it's written in everyday English, I actually think that's wonderful, dato the fact that they're libri for young adults.

Based on my experience, the più accessible the language is in a novel, the better it is (with the exception of the very honorable Edgar Allan Poe, of course). Who wants to struggle while Leggere for fun, anyway??

Now, if you're referring to the story structure AND character development, I do acknowledge that te have a somewhat valid point there, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it terrible.

In Twilight, for instance, the antagonists (Victoria, Laurent and James) are brought in way too late into the story, and it's obvious that they're only introduced to create the final climax confrontation.

Also, something that really bothers me is that Jacob is used as an informational device and not much else when he first meets Bella. His character is poorly developed in Twilight, but this all changes in New Moon.

So, if these are the issues you're referring to when saying "terribly written," I partially agree, but, again, I wouldn't call it terrible.

I'd call it a lack of storytelling skills maybe, but keep in mind it's her first book series, so give the lady a break, why don't ya?

When te criticize a work so harshly, te better have some compelling and SPECIFIC evidence to back up your claims.

To sum it up, the story might be a bit cliche and predictable, but it's a PAGE TURNER, and the characters are very likable. They really stay with you.

In the end, no author's work is ever flawless. Heck, even Shakespeare had the problem plays, so my humble suggestion is only criticize something this harshly if te can prove te can do better. Let's see te write a 4-book saga better than Stephenie.

People like it because Bella is basically a place holder for every teenage girl Leggere so she can imagine what it's like to be with Edward Cullen... that's the main appeal.
As for the terribly written bit, totally agree with te on that point. Stephanie Meyer has used countless examples of link, her grammar is atrocious and she's admitted to having done no research. Regardless of what your book is about te need to do research!

twlight... are not bad written... im 16 and i now younger people who loved them because of the way they were written not too hard o too easy... twilight for many of us have change our lives it gave us something new to beleive on, something to talk about, beleive on bella's and edward's true Amore and Jacob's true friendship. and talk about the characters and why we are obsess with this new whole world...

Well that's your opinion, but other people (including myself) enjoy the books, they have a brilliant plot and likeable characters.....okay they may not be the best book ever but still they make te want to keep Leggere which I think is the most important part!=D Perhaps, if te haven't read them go to your local biblioteca and at least TRY Twilight...by the way if te think they're terribly written why post such a domanda on a spot where the majority of people are FANS?

They aren't the best written i agree, but the thing is that it captures your imagination and makes be believe that anything can happen. It is an escape from our world and it is a get away from my troubles. Plus i am a hopless romantic and i can't help be believe there is true Amore so I am completely imbedded in their Amore hoping that my Amore could be like that and that i will find true love.
Another factor is the fantasy and the fun in the book, it has a good plot and is very entertaining even though it is not the best written. I hope that explains to te why i Amore these books.

So what if they are terribly written they tell a story never the less, and that is worth Leggere no matter how it is written. A good story teller doesnt need any fansy grammer(as u can see with my grammer "fansy") all they need is a story that everyone is willing to read o listen to and that it appeals to someone in some way. I Amore stephanie myers stories and though im not obsessed with them like most girls i will give her credit that the stories drew me in and i read each book in one day...maybe about 5 hours..i think. but i knew that i had liked them from begaining to end and THAT my Friends is worth my vote, if i read a book for enjoyment and spend all my..to-little allowence on the sequals then im a fan!!! keep it up stephenie!!!!

Well, perhaps the the writting isn't wonderful, but it is far from terrible, I think. Of course, every one has a different taste, and te can only talk for yourself. I think that the reason I like the Twilight saga, is because of Stephenie Meyer's very uniqu viewof Vampiri#From Dracula to Buffy... and all creatures of the night in between. and their society. It's unlike anything else and very original. I like that she has ignorered almost everything te think a vampire is o should be. The only thing she kept is the fact that they drink blood.
Besides, there aren't many vampire/romace stories out there :) They are really hard to find! And when te combine it with teenage love, te have something no one has ever thoght of before.
But as I detto to begin with, Leggere is very subjective. There isn't a book that every one can agree on loving, and that's that.

I don't think that they are terribly written - their not brilliant, and i know lots of libri (well, LOTS, of books) that are heaps better - and the storyline, in my opinion, is old. not original, but still kind of interesting.

First off, i'd like to say that everyone who is simply saying that the libri are great and that's it are no better than the person who posed a perfectly reasonable domanda (of course it could have been più tactfully asked dato that this is a forum for innamorati of the books). Truthfully i agree with a lot of things that have been detto here. The Scrivere is far from fantastic and for the most part the story isn't particularly original, boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl meets another boy and other boy likes girl too. Oldest story in the book right? I understand that to a lot of people the story is engaging and interesting because it's fantastical (and i mean that in the sense that it's a fantasy not that it's fantastic) and it's just the same as the Harry Potter craze (which in my opinion was più deserving of the hype... i've got plenty of reasons for that but i'm not going to get into it here). I do think that the hype is ridiculous. They're not that great.

Well "they are terribly written" isn't a fact, its an opinion, YOUR opinion. I agree they aren't amazingly written but the first one is pretty good particularly and the story really sucks te in! Its all a matter of taste =)

It really bugs me when people say that a book was written badly simply because the majority of words were everyday-type-words and not huge many-lettered-hard-to-pronounce words, and because the sentences were simple plain everyday english rather than fancy complicated sentences. I believe the term that's used for libri with a complex Scrivere style is 'heavy reading'. Not everything has to be heavy, te know. Sometimes it's nice to read something that is written in the same way that the characters would actually SAY them. These libri are written in Bella's point of view - a modern 17 anno old girl. Would she speak with a sophisticated tongue? No.
So, that's why I'm confused as to your question. Stephenie's Scrivere seems perfectly fine to me. It's written how Bella would say it.

Then leave this spot and if te find an anti-twilight spot tell us.

I'm not a literature expert I on't even read lots of libri so I can't commento on how great written they were.But in libri it is not just the Scrivere takes te in.If the story make te feel good make te feel like te own the story and if te can feel the characters I consider that as a great book.And twilight was just one of those few libri which felt like mine.

Stephenie Meyer has detto many times that she isn't an expert at writing, and that Twilgiht came to her in a dream and she just started writting it.
She detto "No one was più surprised than me that I'd actually finished a book."
She says she never went to writting school, neve took classes, and broke many rules of so called "good writting rules".
Obviously this isn't true.
BECAUSE her libri broke the rules is one of the many reasons why they're so loved.

Because we do. It's as simple as that. Everyone has their own reason for liking it. It doesn't have to be some classic piece of literature to be good. Why do people believe in things they can't see? Because they do. Why do people play sports? because they like to. Does it really matter why we do the things we do, o why we like the things we like, o what anyone else thinks of what we like? why do te not like the book? because te don't like the way it's written. te just don't. why do i like this book? because it captured my imagination, well written o not. i like it, the other people on this spot like it, we are going to like it, even if te don't. so why do te care if we like it o not? it has no effect on te in any way. do te care about why people like Musica te don't like? no, it's just their preference. it really does not matter why we like these libri o why te don't. it's just a matter of personal taste, and everyone has their own personal taste. frankly, te asking this question, is a complete waste of time. it should be simple enough for someone who can criticize Scrivere to understand that people like things just because it appeals to their personal tastes. you're the only person on this spot that seems to expect the libri to be written better despite being written da an average American woman who was not even intending to pubblica it when she wrote it. so you're the only person here who seems to have a problem with the way they are written.

i totally disagree that they are badly written. i have never read anything that gripped me so much. and i agree with however came up with th commento that people don't want to read the book they want to crawl inside and live there. i only know one book that did that to me and that was hp and talking about that i think that in Hp the libri grow up in better Scrivere style as harry does, in twilight it stays at a very steady level which is probaly better because Bella is basically adult for all of the books. I some ways this better but i do Amore hp so do't think i'm dissing it. so twilight is not predictable and not badly written so don't bother posting it on a fan club

I didn't think it was that badly written. I've read better. I like that they are different from other vampire books. I still Amore Twilight but its not my favorite. that would be Morganville Vampire series da Rachel Caine. Amazing book.

I will admit that after Leggere Twilight for like the millionth time, I've noticed a few flaws, such as TWILIGHT is mainly just speech and not too much description, and that may bug people.

I think one of the reasons people like Twilight so much is it's like an alternate reality. Whenever I felt sad o stressed o whatever, when I read The Twilight Saga, I completely forgot about them all and became a part of the story, te know? It's like an escape.

People like the idea of perfection in men and women (the vampires) and to think that they could one giorno find someone like that is comforting.

The fact that it's not about ordinary vampires, holy water, stakes etc. none of it works on the Cullens and it's kind of exciting. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like change o something new, then Twilight is not for te but it's nice to try something new.

Then there is licantropi which adds to the tension and the excitement. Sure, there is not many- if any fight scenes in the Saga but that's a new thing too. Usually Vampiri#From Dracula to Buffy... and all creatures of the night in between. are all like, human kill, blood, blood, blood, kill, me demon, me kill blah blah blah and blah. Again, if you're only into the originals, then this is not for you.

I like Twilight because of the above reasons and I don't mind all the changes and there are più reasons.

That is your personal opinion. Some people like the storyline, others...not so much. But te shouldn't be bashing how they're written. In my opinion, they are wonderfully written! I'd like to see someone like te try to beat Stephenie Meyer in a Scrivere contest.
